Australia - Audinate Group Limited (ASX:AD8) has announced that during the company’s 2023 fiscal year (FY23), which ended in June, it had shipped more than one million hardware and software units of its AV-over-IP solution, Dante. The one million units is the greatest number of Dante units ever shipped in a 12-month period. The list of Dante products includes software, chips and modules that original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) integrate in their products to create Dante audio and video hardware solutions for end users, as well as the Dante AVIO accessories built by Audinate.
Currently, more than 550 OEMs license Dante technology, delivering over 3,800 networked and video devices, including video cameras, microphones, loudspeakers, and amplifiers.
Semiconductor analyst reports in 2022 showed the supply chain challenge was more of a demand than a supply issue, and Audinate’s results reflect these findings. In FY23, to increase the availability of Dante products, the company introduced new products like the Brooklyn 3 module and worked with manufacturers to implement software-based solutions such as Dante Embedded Platform and IP Core. The company also negotiated on behalf of its large community of manufacturers to receive an increased allocation of supply-constrained chips. Today, Audinate believes it has largely overcome COVID-related supply challenges.
“To deliver a record number of Dante units in a year hampered by supply challenges demonstrates our commitment to working with our partners and suppliers to ensure the availability of Dante
The Netherlands - Nestled in Amsterdam's Jordaan neighbourhood lies the Noorderkerk Church, a remarkable 17th-century Protestant church renowned for its architectural beauty and design. Over the past year, this church’s usually neutral atmosphere has been transformed into a mesmerising 360-degree world of colours. With the help of 38 Digital Projection projectors, it now tells the story of how Rembrandt van Rijn’s paintings inspired Vincent van Gogh’s greatest works.
Vincent meets Rembrandt: The Untold Story, which opened in 2022, will be captivating visitors until 2027 with this audiovisual spectacle. By seamlessly combining visuals with a compelling audio narration of van Gogh's letters to his brother Theo, the exhibition reveals the influence Rembrandt had on van Gogh's artistic journey.
The idea to create an immersive experience of how Rembrandt played an important role in Vincent’s artistic process was envisioned by Hennie Jaspers & Marcel Vos. Taking the lead for this project, Bart van Bokhoven, owner and creative director of Pronorm, Dutch audiovisual integrator, wholeheartedly embraced the initiative. “We started with a concept around six years ago,” states van Bokhoven. “We were going through the diaries of van Gogh and the letters to his brother Theo, where he explained how he really admired Rembrandt’s work, what light and colours the artist was using and his way of painting. This inspired the storytelling.”
To create a fully encompassing experience, Pronorm chose the Noorderkerk Church for the venue, as both
USA - In the suburbs of Detroit lies Shelby Township, home to St. John Vianney Catholic Church. The quiet and unassuming church hosts a vast nave, with seating for more than 1200 people.
The rectangular nave features brick-lined walls and soaring slanted ceilings that culminate in a glass-encased cupola, allowing natural light to bathe the altar below. Although open and airy, the vaulted ceilings and brick masonry compromised the speech intelligibility of liturgical services. Beam-steering arrays from Renkus-Heinz were the chosen solution to help solve the church’s audio challenges.
Church staff contacted Robert Wisnieski, owner and system designer at RMW Productions, to design a new audio system for the sanctuary. Wisnieski recommended Renkus-Heinz’s ICLive X Series of steerable arrays to meet the church's goals of even coverage and high intelligibility. The ICLive X Series provides complete customisation of room coverage through individually steerable beams, and the loudspeakers’ high directivity made them the best choice for a venue like St. John Vianney.
“The reverberation in St. John Vianney’s nave was pretty significant,” said Wisnieski. “It's a wide room with high ceilings, so the acoustics were not ideal. After looking at several different loudspeaker series, we felt the ICLive X was the best fit for the sanctuary’s needs.”
RMW Productions installed four ICLX loudspeakers around the sanctuary for increased sound directivity toward the congregation. The ICLive X Series of steerable arrays is a complete, scalable system
Ivory Coast- More than 60 Powersoft Quattrocanali 4804 amplifiers are delivering the power for an all-new PA system serving one of the biggest stadia in West Africa.
Located in the eponymous suburb of Abidjan, the largest city in the Ivory Coast, the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé is the country’s national stadium, being home to Les Éléphants, the Ivory Coast national football team.
The 60,000-seat venue was inaugurated on 3 October 2020, when it was given the additional name Alassane Ouattara Olympic Stadium (Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara), after the Ivorian president. It is expected to eventually form the heart of a vast, 287-hectare Olympic village, and will next year host the opening ceremony and final match of the postponed 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
The need for a new sound system so soon after the Olympic Stadium’s construction came after its original PA system - installed by the original contractor, China’s Beijing Construction Engineering Group (BCEG) - was damaged by adverse weather conditions. The new system was designed by Ricardo Castro, CEO of Portuguese AV consultancy RCOe, on behalf of local integrator Protech Distribution.
In addition to the 61 Quattrocanali 4804 - of which he opted for the DSP+D model, with Dante audio-over-IP networking - Castro specified 14 Powersoft Duecanali 6404 DSP+D amplifiers to lend additional power for the 104-loudspeaker system, which is divided into 28 clusters to maximise audio coverage across the stadium. A pair of Quattrocanali are bi-amped to each Community R2-66MAX speak
France - The Théâtre du Splendid, an emblematic Parisian venue known for its rich artistic past, has chosen to convert its fleet of Robert Juliat 600SX tungsten profile fixtures to LED using Robert Juliat Sully LED modules, to comply with the fast-approaching regulatory requirements for energy transition.
With a capacity of 300 seats and an eclectic programme, the Théâtre du Splendid is well served with Robert Juliat equipment. This includes a set of eight Robert Juliat 600SX profiles rigged across the front-of-house and over stage, which were recently converted to LED using the Sully LED 115W module in warm white. The LED source with its colour temperature of 3000K and 98 CRI is perfect for the Théâtre du Splendid.
"It's a cost-effective, long-lasting solution that maintains the level of technical excellence expected of a profile," explains Thomas Rouxel, the Théâtre’s technical director and a fervent fan of Robert Juliat fixtures. "The assembly of the Sully modules to convert our 600SX tungsten profiles was quick and easy, and child's play.
"We also replaced the existing double condenser lens in our profiles with one specially treated for LEDs, on the advice of So What & Co, the Robert Juliat distributor we worked with on this conversion project. This option proved particularly effective on our products, whose optics needed a little refreshing. The result is indisputable: the beautiful quality of the rendered light, the sharpness of the shutter cuts and of the projected image."
"It's great to see two long-established French pla
Belgium - ETC’s Source Four LED Series 3 fixtures have been selected to upgrade the Cultural Centre (CC) in Koksijde.
The popular centre has state-of-the-art facilities in its theatre and concert hall which regularly host a variety of performances including dance productions, comedy shows, arthouse film screenings and more. ETC dealer FACE led the successful installation of the fixtures at the venue with account manager Koen Ceulemans and team, alongside head technician at the CC Miguel Rooms and his technical team.

USA - A San Francisco landmark, and arguably the most celebrated venue in rock history, The Fillmore promises to carry its status into the future thanks to a complete audio upgrade anchored by a new Meyer Sound reinforcement system. Built around the flagship Panther large-format linear line array loudspeaker, the new system was supplied and installed by UltraSound, another company with deep roots in the rich history of San Francisco’s post-1960s music scene.
Operated by Live Nation since 2007, The Fillmore treasures its legendary past while remaining focused on presenting today’s established and emerging artists in an optimum environment supported by world-class technical facilities.
“Our prior Meyer Sound system maintained our reputation for more than 15 years,” notes Matt Lawsky, on The Fillmore staff since 1999 and principal production manager since 2011. “But it was clearly time to move forward. We had first looked at a Leopard solution, but the timing worked out perfectly because, just when Live Nation gave us the green light, Panther had come out. UltraSound recommended it, and the cost was a wash because with Panther we need only seven boxes per side whereas Leopard would require 10 or more. So, we went with the very latest Meyer Sound technology.”
When The Fillmore reopened in 1994, after a five-year closure due to earthquake damage, UltraSound installed a Meyer Sound MSL-3 system in the room. UltraSound returned in subsequent years to install Mica line arrays with M3D Subs, culminating in this year’s Panther system.

UAE - Seaworld at Yas Island Abu Dhabi is the region’s first Marine Life Theme Park. It is also the first facility in the MENA region to achieve Global Human certification (the international brand of American Human, which is the world’s largest certifier of animal welfare). The new attraction was delivered by ALEC Engineering & Contracting LLC and opened its doors to the public in May 2023.
Unusual Rigging was brought on board by ALEC and subcontractors ASU and Holovis to handle the various rigging installations around the park, ensuring that the equipment and design solution remained constant throughout the different disciplines and buildings.
One of the main aspects of the project was the installation of a series of acrylic ceiling panels in the venue’s central hub. Called One Ocean, the hub looks like an underwater cave with rocky arches marking the entrances to the park’s other seven realms. Richard Hoare project manager, URE commented: “ALEC’s challenge was, how does one get a series of fragile, diminishing acrylic ceiling panels up 25 metres to a pre-installed curved, angled, convoluting MDF ceiling decoration, the underside of which was covered in programmable LED strip lighting, when each panel was bespoke in length, width and angle? It was a task the acrylic supply and installation contractor had declined to undertake. We have a good working relationship with ALEC so they asked us to rise to the challenge.”
The URE team’s solution was to design and fabricate a firm, adjustable, well supported bed to coax the panels (some
UK - When Audio Light Systems was contracted as specialist theatre systems installation contractors, to deliver The Studio at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Doughty Engineering was the supplier of choice for the facility panels and production light boxes that the venue would need.
The Studio - a home for new expressive art, opened its doors earlier this summer - more than 40 years after it was originally planned. Although a smaller performance place was part of the original 1970’s design of the site at Port-Na-Craig, financial restrictions meant that this particular ambition could not be realised at the time. The dream remained, however, and the designated space was held (and used as a set store) until it became a reality.
Steve Aitchson, project engineer at Audio Light Systems said: “The space, whilst fairly small (seating 172 over two levels at full capacity), required a huge number of facility panels and production lighting boxes. We needed peace of mind that they were going to be good quality, robust items with a reliable process for delivery.”
Working to a specification from consultants, Theaterplan, Doughty initially supplied manufacturing drawings for client approvals, before producing the bespoke items that the space required. “Dan Phillips is always very helpful and accommodating, delivering the drawings and sorting labelling changes quickly. Doughty really are the experts and are always confident in suggesting improved designs for cost saving and functionality improvements, if they are identified”, said Steve.

USA - A premiere public arts school in the greater Orlando area, Osceola County School for the Arts (OSCA) has a long-standing tradition of excellence with many alumni having gone on to attend various prestigious university programs, such as The Juilliard School, Berklee College of Music and more.
Osceola County School for the Arts’ Jazz A Ensemble, specifically, is a two-time winner and five-time finalist at the Essentially Ellington Competition & Festival and has performed at many jazz festivals throughout the United States. When the programme was in need of new and improved microphones, director, composer and veteran educator Jason Anderson turned to MXL Microphones.
“After learning more about the kind of instruments we were using, what the band was like and what we would be using the mics for, MXL came through big time and within a month or two we were using new microphones,” says Anderson. “Especially with jazz, you want to hear on the recording exactly how it sounds live and I feel like that's exactly what we get with MXL. It can be challenging with so many different instruments trying to capture the balance of the band as well, and I feel like the microphones do a good job of capturing the specific essence of each individual instrument.”
In total, OCSA’s jazz band now has over 30 MXL microphones, which include two R77s, eight 770s, one 890, four R144s, six V67Gs, the brand’s Studio Drum Kit, which includes an A-55 Kicker, a 606, two Drum Cubes for toms, two 603s, along with the shock mounts and hard mounts that go with the
UK - Audiologic in collaboration with integrator GVAV, has announced the implementation of a versatile hybrid workspace at the University of Hertfordshire. This project incorporates Q-SYS audio, video, and control technology to create a seamless learning experience for students, whether they are physically present or participating in remote learning off campus.
Recognising the need to adapt to evolving user demands, both corporate and higher education institutions are transforming their workspaces to embrace greater flexibility. The University of Hertfordshire identified the outdated Prince Edward Hall lecture theatre as a space that had the potential to be transformed into a much more optimal learning environment catering for the needs of both in person and remote students. In response, they developed a new multi-use learning space, within a dynamic setting, designed to provide a new CDIO (Conceive Design Implement Operate) style of learning for individuals and groups for all university students.
The lecture theatre underwent a complete renovation, resulting in a new flat-floor space that prioritises audio-visual performance. This includes the incorporation of acoustic treatment on the walls and ceilings, to reduce the room’s RT60, as well as adding modern geometric LED lighting to rejuvenate the space.
The University of Hertfordshire partnered with GVAV for the audio visual requirements of the project.
Sukh Basi, sales director for London and the South East at GVAV, comments: “We worked with Audiologic for the equipment supply and techni
