Denmark - Set in the rolling hills of the Danish countryside, HimmerLand is a resort combining golf and spa facilities with award-winning bistros, bowling alley, outdoor sporting activities and flexible meeting spaces.
HimmerLand recently expanded its offering to include a large multipurpose hall, smaller meeting rooms, a golf simulator and fitness centre. Leading the AV design and integration was COMM2IG - a Danish company specialising in technology solutions - who opted for a Genelec Smart IP loudspeaker system.
"The off-axis dispersion of Genelec models is excellent, which is very helpful for meeting rooms," explains Søren Maibom, solution manager and sound designer at COMM2IG. "HimmerLand also wanted a very Nordic design for these spaces, and Genelec’s form factor works really well in this context. In fact, the team wanted to hide the loudspeaker system initially, but after seeing how sleek and beautiful Genelec’s Smart IP models were, they decided to put them in full view right next to the screens."
COMM2IG chose six of Genelec’s 4430 Smart IP loudspeakers in black for the meeting spaces. "The Smart IP models were an excellent fit as they offer a local analogue input in addition to being a networked IP solution. They can also be monitored remotely, which is great for troubleshooting," says Maibom.
As COMM2IG were concluding their work on HimmerLand’s new meeting rooms, the resort threw the integrators a new brief - to completely renovate the resort’s existing bar into the new Larsens Sportsbar & Bistro in a timeframe of ju
Poland - Chopin Airport in Warsaw, named after the famous Polish composer Frédéric Chopin, has recently undergone an impressive improvement in acoustic technology. The installation of an extensive Praesensa system from Bosch Building Technologies marks a turning point in the way information and music is transmitted and played in the airport building.
The new system features advanced loudspeaker technology and a high level of automation, providing outstanding sound quality and clear, crisp voice transmission, which is of great benefit to the operator, passengers and ground staff.
The new passenger information system is based on the Praesensa solution from Bosch. It uses LS1-OC100E-1 hemi-directional ceiling loudspeakers and LC1-UM12E8 built-in loudspeakers, which ensure that passengers at every gate are addressed with pinpoint accuracy and excellent intelligibility.
By integrating a text-to-speech solution from a third-party provider, the flight number, airline, destination and boarding information are automatically retrieved from the central computer at Chopin Airport and reproduced in synthesized voice information. These are output in Polish and English as well as other available languages, achieving a previously unattainable sound quality. The result is a significant reduction in the workload of airport staff.
The modernisation of the public address and voice alerting system was urgently needed, as the old analogue system had reached its limits. Information was often lost in an indistinct fog of sound, and manual announcements of boarding

France - At a height of 107m, the Dôme des Invalides is the tallest church building in Paris and a shrine of some of France's leading military figures, most notably the tomb of Napoleon.
Built during the reign of Louis XIV in the 17th century, the stunning architecture of this building with its six chapels is brought to life in the Aura Invalides night-time experience in which visitors are immersed in orchestral music as the walls become a canvas for dynamic video projections and lighting effects.
The experience was designed by Moment Factory at the request of cultural operator Cultival and produced through a partnership with Musée de l’Armée, France’s national military museum. An all-Nexo sound system finished in a custom RAL colour to match the stone walls of Les Invalides was designed and installed by French AV technology and events production specialists Novelty Group, with assistance from the engineering support team at Nexo.
Eight clusters of four Nexo Geo M6 compact line array elements are wall-mounted close to the pillars at the entrances of the four corner chapels, with each cluster facing the opposing pillar. L18 subs are mounted above each of the four corner arches, with a single GEO M620 at each corner firing into the dome to create a virtual source.
Compact Nexo ID24s above each arch face the floor, with additional pairs of ID24s mounted above the Turenne and Vauban monuments in the two side chapels, and pairs of ID24s supplemented by an IDS110 sub in each of the four corner chapels.
Sound is central to the experience

USA - JoeCo has launched BandMate, a 24-channel backing track player for live performance playback. Aimed at gigging musicians, the 1U system can replay multichannel audio material alongside MIDI data for the control and update of MIDI equipment such as effects pedals and lighting controllers. The new hardware is supported by a pair of apps for user-friendly operation.
“There is a definite requirement from musicians for a live assist playback device that they can trust more than a laptop,” said JoeCo managing director, Joe Bull. “We created BandMate to be a flexible solution that will give musicians a robust device they can rely on gig after gig, which is simple to use and easy to control.”
BandMate uses a setlist to organise the playback for a gig. This playlist automatically loads up the next song so musicians can focus on their performance rather than the technology. Playback can be controlled and triggered via the front panel, a footswitch, MIDI command or the Remote app. Audio and MIDI data as well as playlists are stored on a local USB memory stick.
As well as the 24 individual balanced outputs to drive a stage box or mixing console, BandMate can also send outputs 23 and 24 to an unbalanced stereo TRS jack. This provides a mixed output from the box to work with small, individual PA systems. The outputs include protection circuitry against inadvertent phantom power damaging the electronics while an earth lift switch separates the system chassis ground from the signal output screen ground to help with eliminating earth loops. Japan - Hoshioto Camp 23, which took place recently at Budou Romankan in the Japanese Prefecture of Okayama became the first outdoor music festival in Japan to introduce immersive sound.
Local sound rental company, Bright Co originally invested in Martin Audio’s award-winning WPC fully optimised system back in 2020. Therefore, when it was time to upgrade the event’s main speaker system, WPC was recommended as the best overall fit for its sound quality, controllability and sense of scale, after evaluation against other systems.
Kazuyuki Oshita, president of Bright Co said there were other reasons why he recommended it to the organisers, notably its ability to deliver consistency of sound right across the area, and to mitigate against noise pollution by being able to contain the energy uniquely within the sound field - one of the award-leading properties of Martin Audio’s proprietary DISPLAY control software.
The 16 principal WPC boxes were powered by Martin Audio’s multi-channel iK42 amplifiers, and to create the full immersion an end-to-end Martin Audio solution was specified, including eight XD15, four SX218 subwoofers, six XP12 and various XE300, and Adorn A55 enclosures.
Various other local rental suppliers, introduced to the main contractors by Martin Audio Japan, also tapped into their inventories to complete the complement required, which also included SPAT Revolution processing. These included Super 4; Music Reserve; Freeway and Network Papa.
Review notices couldn’t have been more positive. One stated: “The sound in fr
