USA - AT&T Stadium, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, has significantly upgraded the capabilities of its main audio control room with the installation of a Solid State Logic System T S500m console. The new system, which was supplied and integrated by Clair Global Integration’s Pro Media Audio Video division, is primarily used to mix and route audio throughout the 80,000-seat stadium during the venue’s very busy calendar of sports, entertainment and corporate events.
AT&T Stadium is in use 365 days a year, not just during football season, and the control room is the hub through which all audio signals pass for almost every event. “This room routes audio for the whole venue, to the bowl PA system, the X clubs, back-of-house, concessions and bathrooms, as well as broadcast feeds - you name it, we route it through here,” says Gary French, head of audio for the Dallas Cowboys.
The new SSL S500m console is custom-configured with 48 faders in a 2.5-bay frame. French has set up three metering displays, one for inputs, one for outputs and a third, utility screen for mix-minus feeds and various other signals. French says that the upgrade became necessary because he needed something more up-to-date, with far greater flexibility and with the capacity to handle many more inputs and especially outputs than the previous console, which was installed in 2009 when the stadium opened.
“Gary had an SSL background from his previous TV post days,” says Mike Mason, regional vice-president, Clair Global Integration. “So he knew their platform and th

The Netherlands - Opened in September 2022, and located in the village of Mijnsheerenland to the south of Rotterdam, Brasserie de Greup is a hospitality venue offering food, drink, and entertainment. Instrumental in the creation of its relaxed and welcoming atmosphere is an Optimal Audio system, installed by AVgek of Rotterdam.
Experienced installers AVgek specialise in commercial and domestic audio-visual projects and consulted with the team at Brasserie de Greup over their requirements. The Brasserie wanted to provide background and foreground music reinforcement for the bar and restaurant areas, from a system that was as easy as possible for its staff to operate.
Bob Sol of AVgek comments: “We have a great relationship with Audio Technica Benelux (Optimal Audio’s distributor in the region) and were aware that this new brand had attracted a very positive reaction. Having made an assessment of the venue’s needs, we felt that they aligned perfectly with what Optimal Audio could offer, so advised the Brasserie team accordingly. This was our first install with Optimal Audio, and we were blown away by the simplicity and ease of use for the installer and the user.”
Bob designed a system comprising four on-wall, landscape-mounted Optimal Audio Cuboid 8 two-way, full range, passive 8” loudspeakers and a single Sub 15 subwoofer, controlled by a Zone 4 controller via WebApp. WebApp makes system set-up straightforward - once completed, venue staff are presented with a simple user interface which allows for easy operation via mobile phone.

South Africa - Johannesburg-based MJ Event Gear, the technical supply company founded by Mike Jones in the early 90s, recently invested in lighting and audio equipment from DWR Distribution.
Mike Jones asked his team to come up with a wish list, with a focus on adding essential gear to their inventory. They decided on a grandMA3 compact XT, eight Robe LEDBeam 350s, six Longman F6s, two Le Maitre MVS Hazers, and two Antari M5 foggers. Additionally, they acquired a DiGiCo S21 console with a D2 rack and an Audix DP 5A Drum Kit, catering to their audio needs.
"The Robe LEDBeam 350s immediately impressed us during their first gig,” says Mike. “The fixtures were used outdoors and being positioned on the lawn, the programmer selected a narrow beam with the audience in mind. Then he gave a demonstration of the units being used wide open and it truly blew me away.”
The F7 PAR cans are proven workhorses and MJ now have their magic number of 48 units. Mike would have 48 of every light fixture in his shop if he could. The grandMA3 compact XT, set to arrive in February, fulfilled the demand for a newer desk and was prompted by frequent customer requests.
The company also doubled their Le Maitre MVS Hazers due to their consistent popularity in rentals and MJ bought new Antari foggers. Additionally, this is the first time that MJ is buying DiGiCo. "The DiGiCo S21 console is highly requested, and it's perfect for smaller gigs. Our team is thrilled, and I look forward to sending them for training. The desk has already gone out on its first rental,” sa
USA - Martin Audio partner, Audio Video Electronics (AVE) has successfully upgraded the technical infrastructure at the Word of Faith Dominion Church (WOFD) in Lake Mills, Iowa.
Based in Brooklyn Park, MN the integrators opted for a Torus constant curvature array solution after their engineering team had reviewed a number of possibilities.
According to AVE sales consultant, Kerry Graffunder, the church’s existing PA had reached end of life and was no longer delivering the coverage or clarity required from a worship establishment that is just 25 years old. “The pastor merely requested some ‘thump in the trunk’ … and the intelligibility has greatly increased also,” he said.
This result was obtained by hanging a pair of Torus, left and right of the stage, with a Blackline X218 subwoofer in the centre. Nearfield coverage is provided by a pair of Martin Audio’s differential dispersion DD6 under two angled scrims at the front of the stage. The new set-up is powered by a pair of Martin Audio’s iKON iK42 multichannel power amps.
Project lead, Karl Selander, explained how they had arrived at this solution. “We have many different HoW installations using [Martin Audio] CDD point source under our belts, but this was our first time wetting our feet with Torus. We had not really had an opportunity to explore the TORUS line previously, but when we looked at the different options, it was clear that a CDD solution wasn’t the right fit for the room.”
Instead, by placing a T1215 (15° vertical pattern atop a T1230 (30°) he knew he c
UK - Occupying three floors of a Grade II listed building, Brewski Chester is a restaurant on a mission to ‘provide happiness through hospitality’. With its North American lodge-themed interior and soul, jazz and funk soundtrack, the recently opened venue (the brand’s third in the UK) has proved to be an instant hit in the city.
For the team at Brewski, the soundtrack to accompany its generously portioned American comfort food needed be as on point as the cuisine, so as the new site was in development, they engaged Manchester-based specialists Hollowsphere to install a Pioneer Pro Audio sound system.
Experienced installers Hollowsphere recommended loudspeakers from the Pioneer Pro Audio CM-Series of commercial audio products. Drawing on the company’s heritage of manufacturing dynamic club speakers, the CM-Series delivers outstanding audio from units that visually complement the interior design of any space.
Hollowsphere discreetly installed a total of 25 CM-S54 4” surface mount speakers across the three floors, to include the bar, dining areas, corridors and rest rooms. The CM-S54’s U-bracket and rear mounting points enabled the units to be installed quickly and easily for a job which took place during night-time hours to allow daytime access for other trades. The system is powered by a single four-channel Powersoft Mezzo amplifier controlled by two WM Touch panels.
The Brewski team is very happy with its new audio system according to co-owner Steven Stockton-King: “Hollowsphere are very reliable and trusted partners, so we went
UK - After the release of her sophomore album The Good Witch in June this year, Maisie Peters, a British artist and songwriter signed with Ed Sheeran’s Gingerbread Man Records, embarked on a tour to support her album. She has recently completed the latest UK leg, with further dates across Europe and Australia scheduled for 2024.
FOH engineer Nathan Kennedy and monitor engineer Michael ‘Fitz’ Fitzsimons, both seasoned DiGiCo users, utilised a DiGiCo SD10 and DiGiCo Quantum 225 respectively, benefitting from what Kennedy describes as “natural and uncoloured sound”, while Fitzsimons highlights the console's customisable programming, which he believes surpasses any other console manufacturer in the industry.
Kennedy started using DiGiCo consoles in 2012, and says the workflow immediately resonated with him, stating, “What goes in, comes out exactly as you've filtered it”.
“DiGiCo is always my first-choice console, and I truly appreciate their natural and uncoloured sound,” he adds. “During Maisie's first year, I used an SD10. For the US and UK tour, I switched to the Quantum 225 as I wanted to explore the Spice Rack and Mustard Processing. The Chilli 6 significantly enhances Maisie's vocals and does precisely what it’s designed for. I apply Mustard compression to my drum groups, which makes the toms, kick, and snare pop a lot more than they did.”
A DiGiCo user of eight years, Fitzsimons, highlights that he has deployed DiGiCo consoles across a multitude of acts, from Cradle of Filth to Eric Clapton, and for the past
USA - A combination of Holoplot’s sound control capabilities and creative sound design by Jonathan Deans let the vocals shine for this new off-Broadway production. Based on the true story of the legendary Cuban ensemble, Buena Vista Social Club (BVSC) brings the 1966 Grammy-winning album to the Atlantic Theatre Company.
Produced by Cuban American playwright Marco Ramirez, the show debuted mid-December at the Linda Gross Theatre and has received rave reviews. Sound designer Jonathan Deans, known for work on Broadway hits and Cirque du Soleil productions, collaborated with music supervisor Dean Sharenow and director Saheem Ali to create the auditory experience, with global technology provider PRG furnishing a comprehensive audio and lighting solution for the production, including the first Holoplot X1 system to grace a musical theatre production.
Working with a new team and venue, Deans aim was to gain both a deep understanding and respect of the music's origins, blending this with his expertise in theatre sound design to create a cohesive audio experience.
“My role is to take the musical ideas, performance ideas, and actors, and put it into some kind of shape and structure for the audience to respond to,” Deans says. “I specify the equipment, make it work for the production, and work with everyone involved.”
The Atlantic Theatre is a converted church, with architecture that poses acoustic challenges. “The theatre itself has undergone significant modifications to become a delightful space for any show,” continues Deans. “H

Sweden - Established in 1941, Stockholm-based Berghs School of Communication offers an advanced curriculum that covers everything from brand strategy to content design, illustration, marketing and art direction. When the school made the move to the newly developed Gasverket – a former gas plant in Stockholm that is now home to a growing community of cultural, educational, and social enterprises – it required a reliable and flexible audio solution. Working alongside Stockholm-based integrators Scan AV, Berghs chose a Genelec Smart IP loudspeaker system for its new venture.
“We moved to a new building and needed high-quality audio in the open areas,” begins Bosse Hjerpe, facility manager at Berghs. “We turned to Scan AV for a solution that was flexible and – due to cost reasons – networked. The building was empty and needed to be equipped with everything, so a networked solution was much cheaper.”
Dragan Nedeljkovic, audio integrator at Scan AV, adds: “I’ve known Genelec for a while and my experience of working with Smart IP has been excellent, so I wanted to continue to implement this technology. I know all the advantages of a networked solution, so I asked Berghs to install the initial infrastructure with lots of network outlets, which gave us the flexibility to design the system however we liked.”
Berghs’ new home in the Gasverket is in a central part of the newly developed Norra Djurgårdsstaden district, a former industrial part of Stockholm that is currently undergoing intensive modernization. Aiming to be complete by 202

UK - With over 40 Popworld late night bar/discos in their estate, leisure operators, Stonegate Group, recently refreshed the brand by unveiling their next generation interior.
Popworld Bournemouth, like most of the others, has benefitted from a creative and immersive audio-visual integration courtesy of Martin Audio partners, Middlesex Sound & Light (MSL).
Occupying the site of a former Walkabout Inn, which had also been equipped with Martin Audio, MSL were able to service, recondition and redeploy some of the pre-existing kit across the five-zone interior. Where auxiliary sound has been required, they have met the challenge by specifying Martin Audio’s compact but high output Adorn series in the shape of A55T surface mount and ACS-40TS ceiling speakers.
The operators have made their heaviest investment yet in audio visual, flipping their earlier concept of an illuminated dancefloor, and now running a fluid overhead pixel-driven lightshow to create a party vibe, while cheesy pop music is played out through a combination of the new and redeployed Martin Audio enclosures.
“Martin Audio dominates nearly all of the Popworlds we’ve fitted out,” confirms MSL project manager, Toby Jones. “It is our go-to brand because it delivers good quality, with excellent sonic response; it’s also reliable and represents fantastic value for money.”
From an audio perspective, Jones designed the venue into a five-zone interior, plus a separate one for DJ monitoring, where he has specified a pair of powerful Blackline X10.

USA - PK Sound will present its new T8 robotic line source element, the sub-compact member of the robotically controlled line source range, at the 2024 NAMM Show (ACT Entertainment Booth 11513).
Featuring PK’s patented multi-axis robotics, T8’s output - with peak SPLs reaching 143.5 dB - is precisely controlled down to 400 Hz in both the vertical and horizontal planes. The result is ‘an unparalleled degree of flexibility and precision in system dispersion for designers or operators in virtually any application’.
In tandem with the accompanying T18 intelligent subwoofer, PK Cell modular touring rack and PK .dynamics control software, the T8 system delivers PK Sound’s remote and real-time multi-axis robotic coverage control to a wider range of users and applications in the touring and rental, performance installation, theatrical, worship, nightlife and corporate event verticals.
The elongated waveguide of the T8 is robotically manipulated to offer variable symmetric and asymmetric horizontal dispersion in 49 configurations, from 60 to 120 degrees, so users can shape an array’s radial directivity remotely and in real time. This enables the configuration of tapered arrays, precisely tailored to meet the unique coverage requirements of any venue or event. Users can focus energy on the audience and away from reflective surfaces or obstacles in indoor venues for maximum intelligibility, in addition to mitigating noise impact on on-site points-of-sale or surrounding commercial and residential areas in outdoor applications.

Australia - Broadcast and streaming rental specialist Gameday Hire has expanded its Green-GO setup by investing in a BridgeX quad network bridge interface, enhancing its remote production capabilities.
The Sydney-based company, headed up by Australian broadcast industry veteran Andy Liell, has heavily invested in Green-GO products over the last year with support from Rod McKinnon at Event Communications Australia.
Gameday Hire’s team travels across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, often delivering outside broadcast technology in remote locations that require rock solid communications. Incorporating the BridgeX into their existing, extensive Green-GO comms system means that the company can massively improve comms for their remote production solutions.
One such project Gameday Hire provides ongoing solutions for is an Australian sporting code. With three control rooms and multiple LiveU-based field production kits around the country, the Gameday Hire facility covers up to 8 x 3 camera matches per week, which are broadcast live on a major streaming platform. The facility was built around Green-GO comms using Dante interfaces for local commentary and 4 Wire interface carried over LiveU for the remote camera comms.
The BridgeX solution is essentially 'plug and play' once configured. Standard Green-GO devices are switched into an ‘online’ mode and establish a connection over public internet back to the BridgeX. Latency varies between 400-800ms from studio to remote, which the team says is very manageable for this application.
New Zealand - A once-in-a-lifetime experience for 10,000 Chinese visitors was boosted by a top line PA system that has never been used in the ANZPAC region before.
The massive delegation was flown to New Zealand in 12 waves over two months from 9 October to 5 December for the 2023 Amway China Leadership Seminar, produced by Encore Event Technologies APAC.
The Amway Diamond top performers were treated to an extensive programme of events and excursions that rewarded exceptional performance and elevated brand allegiance whilst enjoying the incredible sights and adventures New Zealand has to offer.
The event highlight was a stunning final gala night dinner which was staged 15 times throughout the period to visitor groups of approximately 600 per event. Held at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland and Queenstown Ice Arena the galas, which took a year to plan, treated guests to a spectacular night full of technological wizardry and heart pumping entertainment.
Using the L-Acoustics L2D Loudspeakers as a key component, Encore is the only company is the APAC region to have used the new speakers outside of the global pilot programme.
“These aren’t your everyday speakers, they’re arguably one of the finest on the market,” said Encore’s director of innovation and technology, Daniel Lourenco. “We flew the speakers in from France, which was no easy feat, however it was worth it to produce something incredible. These speakers reduce the amount of set up time and give greater horizontal dispersion at the front of the stage resulting in a s
