Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott play the KCOM Craven Park stadium on 3 June
UK - An appointed supplier to Hull UK City of Culture 2017, Star Events will provide a VerTech stage and support infrastructure for SJM’s Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott’s turn at the KCOM Craven Park stadium on 3 June.
Heaton formed the Housemartins and the Beautiful South in Hull and the 23,000 capacity event will feature songs from both bands along with material he went on to record with Beautiful South singer Jacqui Abbott.
Star Events’ 20m VerTech stage goes to Hull from the Courteneers at Emirates Old Trafford, another SJM/homecoming gig, along with a venue specific loading dock, a low level VT Front of House structure and two 11.5m V-tower delays.
Pete Holdich, head of structures at Star Events, comments, “It’s many years since we worked at Craven Park. The stadium has got good access, a helpful house team and plenty of storage space, which takes us straight out onto the pitch. The Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott show is a big coup for Hull and we’re really looking forward to it.”
Martin Green, director of Hull UK City of Culture 2017, said, “We have a superb line-up of musical events taking place next year, but Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott's return to Hull will inevitably be one of the highlights of the summer.
“Paul always receives a great reception when he comes home and, in a year that is about celebrating culture in the city, it is wonderful that he will be performing Housemartins’ songs, which are so strongly associated with Hull.”
