AC-ET supplies lighting for Grand Prix party
- Details
Staged within the grounds of the BRDC Farm as part of the Formula 1 Rolex British Grand Prix weekend, the occasion attracts high-profile members and motorsport personalities. AC-ET has been a patron of the BRDC’s Young Driver Programme for over a decade, and supplied the lighting design for the Party ever since.
AC-ET worked closely again with the BRDC to create the lighting theme for the event, which this year saw the Club celebrate 90 years, and the upcoming 70th British Grand Prix at Silverstone Circuit. To commemorate it, the Farm grounds featured displays of historic cars which have played a key part in the history of Silverstone and Formula 1 over the past seven decades.
AC-ET supplied the complete indoor and outdoor effects lighting systems, which utilised over 160 fixtures. The project was designed and overseen by AC-ET production manager Andy Walne Smith.
Chroma-Q's performance and architectural LED solutions featured heavily in the marquee lighting design. Space Force LED soft lights provided general illumination inside the marquee and enclosed car displays, whilst Color Force II LED wash lights and Inspire Mini LED house lights delivered immersive colour-changing effects lighting.
In addition, a flexible package of ProLights' Eclipse Fresnel and Profile, Luma700, Razor 440, plus Stark and Diamond ranges of LED fixtures worked alongside the Chroma-Q units to create a relaxed environment during the day, and transform the venue into a lively and vibrant atmosphere at night.
Various fixtures from ProLights' complete family of IP65 LED solutions were selected for the outdoor lighting. Solar LED wash lights illuminated the exterior of the marquee and the Farm house within the grounds, as well as the surrounding trees and garden, complemented by Panorama AirBeam IP 'searchlight' and StudioCOB Plus Full Colour PAR effects lighting.
The powerful new Vista 3 by Chroma-Q lighting & media control range made its public debut on the event, providing improved flexibility and control over the types of looks that could be 'busked live' for this production. With space at a premium, the new Vista EX control surface provided lots of physical controls within an ultra-compact footprint.
Vista 3 was connected to the lighting fixtures via a Luminex system featuring GigaCore network switches, a DMX Node8 Ethernet-to-DMX converter, and LumiSplit DMX data splitters. Power distribution was delivered through StageSmarts' SmartPDU system. The large quantity of power, data and hybrid cabling needed was provided entirely by AC-ET's in-house Tourflex® Cabling bespoke cable assembly service.
BRDC Club office manager, Lisa Benamore commented: "As the BRDC has come to expect every year, A.C. Entertainment Technologies once again delivered a fantastic lighting display for the British Grand Prix Party's members and guests. The stunning visuals perfectly set the mood and added to the ambience of this stand out event in the Club's social calendar."
