MG's customer base is spread across the UK and includes both corporate and commercial as well as church and music events. The company offers both hire and installation services and has previously sold and installed FBT systems including Vertus, Verve, Mitus and J Series, so when proprietor, Mike Godden, decided he wanted to add a line array to his hire line-up, FBT was immediately on his list of potential purchases.
"I've been dealing with FBT for 18 years, previously for products that I have been selling and they've always impressed me. I wanted to have a line array in our inventory to enable us to take on bigger jobs, but I didn't need a huge system costing a vast amount of money. I wanted to deal with a manufacturer with good relationships, and FBT has always been good in that respect. Obviously it had to sound good, too.
"I was particularly keen to go active with a line array. It makes a lot of sense for something that is primarily front of house, because that makes it a very easy to tool to put in and set-up. If you're looking for active line arrays, that narrows the field. I listened to the Muse system in use in a couple of places and decided it ticked all the right boxes."
Purchased just before Christmas 2015, the Muse system was almost immediately pressed into service for a 3,500 strong New Year's Eve event at the Lea Valley Arena. "It coped with ease," Mike Godden says. "We were very pleased with it and the client's comment was that it was the best sound he'd ever had in that space - and he has used that venue a lot in the past. We'd provided the system for them at that venue in the past and it was the best sound we've achieved there.
"Also helping achieve that sound was also that we used FBT's Verve monitors, which we bought a couple of years ago. I looked at everything under the sun in that marketplace and decided that if you wanted a sub- £1,000 active stage monitor it knocked the socks off everything else in that market place as a monitor.
"We also used the Muse system in March for a biker's' protest rally in Matlock Bath, Derbyshire. That was a 4,000 strong event. We put in eight boxes of Muse and you could hear it clearly within 200m. It handled it very well. It was also out again for two open air events over Easter, in Bedford and London.
