UK - Leading entertainment industry associations The Association of Lighting Designers (ALD) and Women In Stage Entertainment (WISE), and the lighting charity Light Relief are present at this year's PLASA Show. The three organisations are sharing stand M-14; the stand is located immediately behind the White Light Zone in Earls Court 2.

WISE, an organisation established to address the representation of women in the entertainment technology sector, will step from their stand onto the White Light Stand from 4pm to 6pm each day to host Tea O-Clock. A WISE spokesman says, "Each day WISE members from all sectors - sound, AV, lighting, rigging - will offer PLASA Show visitors a calm oasis from the frenetic show floor. We will be providing refreshing mugs of scalding tea, fabulously tasty home baked cakes, an empathetic ear and some scintillating conversation."

The ALD will be talking to existing and possible new members about the Association's work in supporting the work of lighting designers, including its campaigns to raise awareness of the work of LDs and to raise fees paid to LDs to better represent the amount of work required of them for each production.

The organisation will also be showing off its acclaimed 'more art, less technology' magazine, Focus. And on Monday 13th at 12.30pm, the Association will be holding a presentation of cheques to the winners of this year's Michael Northern Bursary, designed to reward the work of student lighting designers. This year, the main Michael Northern prize of £500 will be joined by a second prize of £250, named in honour of ALD Fellow Francis Reid.

Light Relief, the charity established to support those working in the entertainment lighting industry in times of extreme hardship, will be on-stand talking about its work and the support it receives from those in the lighting industry, many of whom are exhibitors at this year's PLASA Show. Donations will, as always, be gratefully received.
