Korea - A QSC WideLine-10 line array system has been installed in a new cultural centre in Korea. With two hangs of four WL2102 enclosures per side, the line array forms part of a complete QSC solution proposed by the manufacturer's Korean distributors, Sama ProSound, to deliver optimum sound at the YEJU Cultural Art Centre in Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk.

The Centre was originally opened in June 2004 to promote comprehensive culture and art within the community. It was equipped with a variety of facilities such as a 530-seat performance hall, exhibition room, cultural lecture room and library; and it is in the performance hall that the WideLine-10, with its 140° horizontal dispersion characteristic, has been specified.

With responsibility for staging a variety of cultural and community events - including classical and concert performance - the Centre had insisted on top quality sound reinforcement to justify its cultural status within the Yeongdeok-gun community. Flown WL2102 hangs were considered the best solution, with bass extension provided by a pair of WL218-sw subs, ground-stacked either side of the stage.

The WideLine-10 is driven in tri-amp mode by a combination of QSC's RMX 2450 and RMX1450 amplifiers, with the sub incorporated to make this a potent four-way system.

"The principle reasons for choosing WideLine-10 were its magnificent, even sound reproduction and its light weight," said Sama ProSound's engineering manager, Carl Park. Optimised via the dedicated SC28 system controller, WideLine 10 provided even SPL, with no drop outs, when reproducing the sound source, he added.
