Korea - A number of new QSC Audio ILA line array installations have been carried out in Korea recently by territorial distributors, Sama ProSound. The long-established Seoul-based company reports that applications vary from auditoria in educational establishments to places of worship.

The main auditorium at Wooshin High School in Seoul is used for a variety of functions and its long rectangular shape would generally have dictated that a large number of subwoofers would be required to complement the main full-range main speakers.

QSC's Installation Line Array (ILA) offers 140° horizontal coverage, and 12 enclosures have been specified (in two hangs) with four WL118-sw subs. This necessitated adding only a pair of QSC's AcousticDesign AD-S82's in each of the corners of the auditorium's second floor to ensure that an evenly-dispersed sound can be experienced from any location in the building. The system is powered by QSC's ISA amplifier range with process control handled by a Rave 522aa, operating under the QSControl. Net platform.

Elsewhere, Yunhee Methodist Church has recently added a new sanctuary, where eight QSC ILA WL2082-i and a pair of WL115-sw subs have been installed in the main and mid-sized worship rooms.

In view of the multiple floors, four additional AD-S82H's were installed on the ceiling of each of the first and second floors to deliver rich, complementary sound without creating hot spots within the worship room. Also featured in the installation are QSC AD-S52's, HPR-122i and MD-F152/94, with the system optimised via SC28 2-in/8-out processors, and powered by a combination of PL and RMX amplification.

A similar solution has been conceived for the worship room at the Sehan Evangelical Holiness Church in Suwon City (Gyeonggi Province), where a QSC ILA sound system upgrade was recommended for the folding fan shape multiple-floor building.

In the main auditorium, eight WL2082-i enclosures have been installed (four each side of the stage) and two WL115-sw subwoofers, hung at the rear. This method not only provides a stable sound solution but facilitates installation in a low-ceilinged venue. Quantities of AD-S82 are also used for infill and the system is driven by a combination of QSC's ISA and RMX series amplifiers.

Finally, the major conference room at the Kunsan Branch of the Korea Industrial Complex Corp in Cheolla Province - designed to host seminars, local events, invited lectures and other functions - has also benefitted from an ILA upgrade.

Here, a total of six QSC WL-2082-i line array speakers have been installed (three enclosures each side of the stage), again using its wide horizontal coverage to great effect.
