UK - PLASA 2010 sees UK audio distributor SCV London showing products from Sony Pro Audio, a new line for the Essex-based distributor, Audix, Turbosound and Fostex.

On display are Sony's UWP and DWX systems, the latter being its definitive Channel 38 solution, which will help to ease its customers' upgrade path in advance of the frequency switchover scheduled for 2012.

DWX (digital wireless microphone) systems will now be sold with modification packages in order to safeguard audio investments in the run up to Channel 38 switch-over. In addition to this, an optional upgrade path will be made available on Sony's WL series analogue wireless microphones.

This announcement coincides with the launch of two new products in the DWX range of digital wireless audio solutions, both of which are being shown at PLASA: the DWR-R01D dual-channel rackmount receiver and DWM-01 integrated handheld microphones enhance the DWX range and are designed for studio and venue installations. The modifications to Channel 38 will be available to be performed from early 2011 via Sony's PrimeSupport team.

A selected range of Sony headphones, lavalier mics and PCM M10/D50 handheld recorders is also on show.

Turbosound products include cabinets from both the British manufacturer's Milan and TCX ranges.

Milan is a digitally self-powered loudspeaker with integral DSP in a rigidised injection moulded enclosure. It is suitable for a wide variety of live sound applications including mobile DJs and corporate rentals and can also be used as a wedge monitor. Milan delivers an impressive 450 watts of power, providing an impressive output from a lightweight package.

Turbosound's TCX meanwhile, features a range of passive two-way loudspeakers from 8" to 15" hi / mid and 15" and 18" low frequency cabinets and is suitable for the mobile DJ, corporate/industrial, House of Worship and live music venue markets.

SCV is also featuring a range of products from Audix, including the M1250B miniaturized condenser mic and the D6 drum microphone.

Finally, on offer from Fostex is the new PM series of multi-coloured powered loudspeakers for the installation market.

"PLASA is always a good opportunity to make sure that everyone knows what's new at SCV and how our brands are keeping abreast of the needs of the market," says SCV's Andrew Stirling. "This year, we have two new product lines: Sony and Turbosound. These are both well-know and respected manufacturers and expand our offering whilst fitting well with our established brands."
