Expected to ship in late winter 2016, the 3D-U ambient earphones are being unveiled at the 2016 NAMM Show in Anaheim
USA - Sensaphonics is expanding its 3D AARO line with the introduction of the 3D-U ambient earphones, at NAMM 2016 in Anaheim. The new model offers the full functionality of the 3D AARO system in a universal-fit design, bringing Sensaphonics' patented Active Ambient technology to a wider audience at a more affordable price.

The sleek, jet-black 3D-U earphones contain embedded binaural microphones as part of the 3D AARO system, utilizing the same proprietary full-range drivers and mics as Sensaphonics custom-fit ambient earphones. The 3D-U also marks the introduction of an industry-first, the SensaQuad quadraxial cable, offering secure connection and easy field replacement. A "fit kit" of foam and rubber earpiece tips ensures a good fit and high-isolation seal.

"Developing this new product was really driven by customer demand," says company founder and president, Dr. Michael Santucci. "Everyone who tries the 3D AARO loves it, but not everyone can afford it. The 3D-U allows us to deliver all the advantages of our Active Ambient technology at a lower price point, and the universal fit design means one system can serve multiple users - something that houses of worship and sound rental companies have been asking for."

Using Active Ambient technology, the 3D AARO system provides full situational awareness, a very useful feature both on stage and off. The ambient earphones capture sound around the user at levels up to 140 dB with no distortion, combining it with the monitor mix via the system's compact bodypack mixer. Thus, the user can hear everything around them with directional accuracy in all three dimensions - left/right, front/back, and up/down - with both earpieces in place. Thus the name: 3D.

Touring artists including Dave Matthews Band, Aerosmith, and Radiohead have been using the Sensaphonics 3D for years. The system has also proven popular among music directors, worship leaders, and sound engineers.

"The idea behind the 3D AARO is to let musicians hear everything they want, but with both ears safely isolated from the dangerous levels on stage, during rehearsals, or in any loud environment," says Michael Santucci. "The 3D-U universal-fit earphones bring Active Ambient technology within reach of every serious musician, DJ/producer, sound engineer, and audiophile."
