Crucial Opportunities - Policymakers in the UK and China are being called upon to exploit possibilities for cultural collaboration, as part of a report claiming "crucial opportunities" exist for both countries. The report, published by the Department for International Trade and cultural organisation BOP Consulting, claims that the immediate aftermath of the Brexit vote has moved collaborations with non-European countries such as China further up the UK's agenda.

However, fostering short-term or profit-led relationships are unlikely to succeed, the report argues, highlighting the emphasis should be on building a long-term, sustained collaboration between the two nations. Recent projects to build collaborations between the UK and China have included a Chinese-language production of War Horse, produced by the National Theatre of China in collaboration with the UK's National Theatre. Last year, organisations such as Shakespeare's Globe and the NT were awarded a share of £7m of government funds aimed at strengthening cultural ties with China.

The Big O - It's worked for Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, N.W.A. and Hank Williams - and now Roy Orbison is to have his life portrayed on the big screen. The surviving family of the singer of songs like Pretty Woman and Only the Lonely have given their blessing to The Big O: Roy Orbison - which apparently makes it the first estate-authorised movie biopic.

Ray Gideon & Bruce Evans have been set to write the script and Alex Orbison, Roy Orbison Jr, and Wesley Orbison will be exec producers. Those are the surviving children of the singer, who have overseen their father's legacy since the death of the singer's widow, Barbara Orbison, in 2011. The movie will be able to use virtually all of Orbison's songs and recordings.

Going Gaga - Lady Gaga will headline the Super Bowl halftime show in February, the National Football League (NFL) has announced. The six-time Grammy Award winner will take to the stage on 5 February in Houston, Texas, the league said in a statement, adding the announcement "is just the beginning" of what promises to be a "historic" show.

Giving a nod to her latest single, Perfect Illusion, Gaga wrote on Twitter: "It's not an illusion. The rumours are true. This year's Super Bowl goes Gaga!" It will be the second time she has performed on the Super Bowl stage, having sang the US national anthem before Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, California, in February.

Diamond Platinum - Adele's latest album has gone diamond platinum in the US, less than a year after it was released. The British star's 25 album has sold more than 10m copies in America alone - a feat no one else has achieved in the last 12 years. She was awarded a diamond plaque in New York after performing the last of six sell-out shows in Madison Square Garden.

Her 2011 album 21 also reached diamond status - and according to the Recording Industry Association of America, more than 14m copies of that record have been sold to date.
