UK - The Emirates Stadium, the North London home to Arsenal Football Club was the venue for an unforgettable night on 1 June with American rockers and Grammy Award winners, Green Day. This was their first stadium show in London since 2010 and formed part of the Uno, Dos, Tré, Tour. The video element of the show was supplied by Chaos Visual Productions who are continuing a packed schedule of events this summer.

The band, who, despite their mainstream successes still adhere to their punk ethos, chose not to deviate from their stripped down look to the stage allowing the video crew to concentrate on the band members (and audience members) playing on stage. Video director, Blue Leach was given pretty much carte blanche to interpret his vision of the show onto the two 29S

The Brazilian version of the event - originated in Amsterdam and staged worldwide - is known as one of the best and most sumptuous of these dance music extravaganzas, packed with beautiful people and superlative sounds. It'

UK - The rumours began circulating weeks before the event that Grammy award winning musician and DJ, Skrillex would perform a surprise DJ set at the Glastonbury festival. MilTec UK Ltd supplied the bulk of the lighting via A1 Entertainments of Bristol who supplied the complete package of staging, sound and lighting for the Gulley.

All of the Miltec equipment was LED powered and consisted of 10x Batten2s, four EPW2 and two EPW3 moving heads, 20 144Q LED pars and two 324W moving head washes. The EPW fixtures were very popular, being used for profile beams, washes and pixel effects.

New Zealand - The principal venue of Aotea Centre in New Zealand, the ASB Theatre has installed a Meyer Sound Constellation acoustic system as part of its recent renovation. By subtly augmenting the theatre's reverberant characteristics, Constellation creates an immersive acoustic atmosphere and enhances the audience's sense of envelopment.

The 2,068-seat hall's original acoustics were optimized for amplified events. To provide acoustics that support ASB's orchestral and operatic performances, principal consultant Chris Day of Marshall Day Acoustics specified a balanced approach blending both structural and active electronic solutions.

On the structural side, Day added new side and overhead hardwood reflector panels and parquet flooring. To provide the ideal acoustic support for classical music, ASB decided against the cost-prohibitive option, which required raising the ceilin

USA - LEDtronics reports that their new LED lamps at the Santa Monica Pier and Carousel Building are helping the 97-year-old landmark conserve energy by more than 30%, increase safety, remove light pollution, and reduce maintenance time.

"The old, fluorescent lights on the pier burned out, left gaps in the lighting and were in a difficult area to maintain," states Matt Henigan, City of Santa Monica, office of sustainability and the environment, energy efficiency engineer. "With the new LED lamps in place, maintenance is minimal, and we have already reduced energy consumption by over 30%. And because the LED lighting is directional, it improves safety and enhances the Pier's appearance without causing light pollution for local residents."

The units were delivered by Robe's South African distributor DWR, whose Robert Izzett demonstrated the DLX.

While power consumption is not an issue at Emperor's Palace, other cost-saving advantages of having LED lighting - like never having to replace the bulbs - were also a definite plus.

UK - Lighting specialists Point Source Productions has refreshed its lighting stock through Ambersphere Solutions. Managing director Stephen Capel reports, "When the decision was made to expand our catalogue, we decided to invest in Clay Paky luminaires due to the broader range of features than found on comparable products from other manufacturers. We feel that this choice has a double benefit to us as a company that provides equipment to such a wide variety of events.

"Their versatility makes them a really cost effective investment as they spend very little time sitting in the warehouse and secondly, clients have confidence in the brand - they know they are getting a very high quality bit of kit. There are always customers who aspire to have more than their budget allows but we find that the flexibility of the Clay Pakys makes them such a valuable item that if equipme

UK - Funktion-One and three of its rental network partners delivered audio solutions to Sonic, Arcadia, and WOW at the UK's biggest festival, continuing a relationship that began during Glastonbury's formative moments in the early 1970s.

Audio Plus worked closely with Funktion-One to design an audio spec for Sonic, which presented some unusual challenges. Audio Funktion made sure that the aural spectacle matched the visual extravaganza at Arcadia. And Audio X supplied the sound to WOW, which, like Sonic, formed part of the Silver Hayes area.

Sonic was built by Silver Stage, using its SaddleSpan modular truss framework. Structured in a three-pronged-shape - essentially a Y with a short stem - it presented an intriguing space for festival goers and a rather challenging environment for the audio specialists. Tony Andrews worked with Audio Plus' owner Stefan Imhof and project mana

Germany - GLP German Light Products have launched a new iPad app for their impression X4 fixture.

One of the versatile features of the impression X4 is that users can create their own pixel designs on the fly and store them directly into their control console. The new iPad app makes the process fast and easy by bringing up a mimic of the fixtures front lens layout. Users can tap individual lenses on and off to design the output that they would like. Simultaneously the app displays the corresponding DMX channels and values to be input to the controller for the physical fixture.

An additional feature of the app is the colour picker allowing you to see colour selection on top of any pattern for a real feel of how a final pattern will appear.

France - The historic Indochine tour, which will take place over two years, debuted at mid-sized venues in France in March. It has gradually become more and more impressive in size occupying ever more important concert locations and triumphing at the Stade de France.

It is an original event lit by the staff of Concept-K, whose young lighting designer Thomas Déchandon put together an unusual lighting design with a special place for Clay Paky's A.Leda Wash K20s. Their LED rings are arranged in a circular array, which is a clear reference to the tour's visual impact and recalls the oval light on the poster. The project is entirely in keeping with the times and, at the Elispace in Beauvais, it merged Clay Paky's traditional features with its brand new washlights.

The very special set of lights used was chosen from the Dushow stock for their visual effects, with the aim of p
