USA - At the recent LDI show, Dennis Varian of ETC presented a cheque for nearly $26,000 to Behind the Scenes, which reflected ongoing proceeds from sales of ETC's iRFR and aRFR (Radio Focus Remote) application for iPhone, iPod Touch and Android. The donation brings ETC's total Behind the Scenes contributions to date to just under $150,000.

"This app was developed by ETC software engineer, Chris Mizerak as a cool tool that ETC thought some might find interesting," says ETC. "When another employee in ETC's London office (Luke Delwiche) suggested that we give the profits to Behind the Scenes and its UK counterpart Light Relief, Fred readily agreed. Since then the sales of the app have exceeded expectations and both charities have benefited greatly."

UK - It was in the mid 1980s when the sound of school fetes, public gatherings and football stadiums changed forever as DNH manufactured a public address speaker that could actually reproduce music to a standard that could be heard and enjoyed.

The MH50 was born and now, nearly 30 years later, DNH have launched its successor - the MC50. Tens of thousands of music horns have been manufactured and distributed worldwide since being designed as a 15Watt unit by DNH chief product designer Oyvind Nielson in 1985. It introduced the concept of throwing music quality sound, long distances by wrapping a high quality driver within a re-entrant horn and was used at the Olympics, Barcelona's Neu Camp stadium, Wimbledon All England Tennis Club and countless sporting stadia, airports and public buildings around the globe. France - The Comédie Francaise in Paris is one of the most revered performing arts institutions in the world, and since 2013, is now operating with Tannoy's QFlex beam-steering technology in its main theatre.

With the recent restoration, the main focus was to restore the room to its former glory, both acoustically and aesthetically. DV2 was commissioned to design, supply and integrate a new sound system and they found the solution in Tannoy's digitally steerable, multi-channel, column array loudspeaker system.

The technology within QFlex means the system is able to achieve even, full-range coverage and SPL which is maintained across the listening plane, and can create an asymmetrical pattern to allow similar SPLs in both the near and far field. It can steer focused beams of acoustic energy to frequencies beyond 12 kHz, which makes it suitable for full-range musical mate
