UK - 'A thin slice of broadcast quality video, in a robust, waterproof package that can form displays of almost any shape you want' - 'LightSlice' is now officially launched and commercially available worldwide.

In its native form the slice's 10mm pixel pitch allows a true 10mm display surface. But the product really comes into its own when creating variable pitch displays with video effects and organic shapes to comp

Taiwan - An Allen & Heath GLD-80 digital mixer has been installed in the main auditorium of the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU). The venue mainly functions as a performance site for NTNU's department of music, and other speech or music performance courses.

A GLD system is the main FOH mixing system, fitted with a Dante card for use with playback and recording software, and to provide multi-track live recording facilities if required.

Formerly Taipei High School, the university is classed as an historic building, and as such during the audio design phase concerns were raised by the audio contractor about room acoustics.

"Not only did we have to focus on the acoustic treatment of such an old room but also on the visual results. Consequently, we consulted with all the other contractors managing building works, lighting, rigging, stage, air conditioning and interio

Europe / USA - Long-term Sennheiser users Kings of Leon have spent most of 2014 on tour throughout Europe and the USA, promoting their latest album Mechanical Bull. Accompanying them at every show has been their trusty package of Sennheiser microphones and in-ear monitors.

The band and their engineers - Front of House engineer Brent Rawlings and monitor engineer Saul Skoutarides - have been dedicated Sennheiser users for over eight years. Vocal microphone of choice for the past six has been the MD 431, a microphone they are still very happy with.

"We have the MD 431 on all of the guys as it is very stable and has a very nice frequency response for vocals," says Saul. "It also suits Caleb (Followill, lead singer) better than any other mic we tried in the past, which is part of the reason we stumbled upon it in the first place."

UK - What have a raven eating a worm on a string, Dynamo the magician throwing Mr Bump at people and a man buying an £80 watch for £4,000 got in common? These were all things that actually happened at UKTV Live on 4 September 2014.

And if that all sounds too crazy for words, the logistics and systems to make this event happen were equally complex. An annual showcase of UKTV's new season shows, the event needed to be slick, exciting and wired with the latest technology. Cue Broadsword, a full service technical event company, who helped UKTV launch its upcoming programmes to the industry for the third year running, partnering with producers Momentum Events.
