Austria - The Wiener Stadthalle is Austria’s largest events complex. Opened in the late 1950s and located in Vienna’s 15th District, the venue has hosted leading international stars for decades, and is regarded as one of Europe’s premier entertainment venues.

To maintain its position as a front-rank venue, the hall’s management team keeps its technology provision under careful review and recently decided to invest in a new audio system. USA - Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW) has announced that effective immediately, globally and retroactively, all EAW products are warrantied for six years from the date of manufacture. This new policy is designed to exceed industry standards and simplify EAW’s previous warranty policy.

The former warranty differentiated between standard loudspeakers (five years), WP loudspeakers (six years), active electronics (two years) and accessories (two years). This new warranty has also been expanded to apply globally, as EAW’s former warranty applied only to U.S. domestic sales.

Spain - Dali introduced two new products in Barcelona – the Phantom M-80 A in-ceiling speaker and the Phantom CI AMP-4750 DSP amplifier.

Michael Munch, CI business development manager at Dali, says: "The Phantom M-80 A expands the Phantom series and offers more options for discreet in-ceiling installations. USA - Billed as an 'evening of music and solidarity', the FireAid Benefit Concert – hosted by the Intuit Dome and Kia Forum on 30 January – saw 35 artists perform in a live broadcast that helped to raise millions for wildfire recovery efforts.

Organised by the Annenberg Foundation, as the event began, $2m dollars were raised thanks to a $1m donation from Irish rock band U2 matched in contribution by Clippers Organisation and Intuit Dome ownership Steve and Connie Ballmer. At the time of press, an estimated $100m has been raised, with funds allocated to the rebuilding of LA communities and wildfire prevention methods.

Germany - Stars of German stage, screen and music walked the red carpet at Leipzig’s Messe Halle 1 for the Golden Henne awards ceremony, with tvONE's Green Hippo brand of Hippotizer media servers on video duty.

Some of Germany’s biggest stars performed at the gala, on a stage backed by a 32m LED screen and a LED floor, which dominated the proceedings. Japan - Creative studio FragmentNine (F9), led by Jeremy Lechterman, was asked by creative director/production designer Jason Ardizzone-West of JAW Studio to collaborate on the lighting elements of an impressive production design for J-pop singer/songwriter Hikaru Utada’s 2024 tour. The artist returned to live performance after a six-year hiatus for an extensive tour of Japan and Asia, supporting a new album project, Science Fiction.

The lighting design included large amounts of Robe fixtures including 81 x Esprites, 72 x MegaPointes, 26 x TetraXs and three Robe BMFL Wash Beam EVs running on a three-way RoboSpot system, all supplied in Japan by lighting vendor Kyoritz.

Brazil - Inaugurated on 28 November, 2024, during the 200th anniversary celebrations of the city of Franca in Brazil, the latest Sesc unit opened its doors with over 100 free activities for people of all ages. Covering an area of 35,555 sq.m, Sesc Franca is the largest facility of its type in São Paulo’s interior, and as such is one of the most important in the country, supporting social, cultural and educational projects.

Spain - German fibre network specialists Optocore demonstrated at last week’s ISE Show in Barcelona that they continue to ‘break new barriers in their technological evolution’.

In particular this applies to the new 12G-SDI standard. With the increasing demand for higher bandwidth, in both the broadcast and live event spaces, 12G-SDI is the logical option to support higher speed UHD formats (4K, 8K etc), with higher bitrates and a greater number of colours.

Explaining the move, Optocore technical support engineer, Marci Sós, states: “The advantages are obvious.
