UK - The festival season drew to a close recently after a disastrous summer when many of the major festivals were cancelled due to the terrible weather. Luckily the rain stayed away for the final two major events in London's Hyde Park- the Proms in the Park and Radio Two's Festival in a Day.

Blinding Light Ltd, based in Reading, was chosen to supply lighting for both events. Part of the requirement was to light the huge windows in the Proms set. For this, they used 32 of MilTec's LEDHead Batten2 units (two mounted in the base of each window). Fitted with 18x 8W quadcolour LEDs and Powercon mains connectors and weighing only 6kg each, they proved a very effective yet lightweight and low powered solution.

Tony Hall, Blinding Lights' lighting designer commented, "The MilTec battens have proved to be extremely reliable, and pack a great punch for their size. I was extremely p

UK - After considering all the possible contenders, sound engineer Roger Lindsay decided the Midas XL8 console was the appropriate front-of-house mixing console to address and match the complex demands of the recent sell-out arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar.

With a 10-piece live band and over 40 vocalists, all individually mic'd, Lindsay required a console that not only offered a high channel count but also gave him maximum direct control of parameters at console surface level.

The complex musical direction and dynamic pace presented a real challenge, even for a seasoned live engineer like Lindsay. "From start to finish there's no time to relax with so much going on. The way a Lloyd-Webber rock musical works in an arena environment is very different to a conventional band with just a few live vocals. We're running around 50 channels for the band, which is not e
