Aura Sound Design Ltd has appointment of Scott George as show control director. Cited as the most experienced show control programmer this side of the Atlantic, George began his sound career in Australia. He worked on a broad range of projects covering theatre, opera, concerts and corporate presentations, and spent three years as the hire manager of Scion Stage Sound and Lighting. He has since worked all over the world, and in the UK has been involved with Coriolanus/Richard II at the Gainsborough Studios, the Royal Shakespeare Company's Macbeth, Plenty and Phedre/Britanicus for the Almeida at the Albery, and Hey Mr Producer at the Lyceum Theatre. George is currently working alongside Aura's John A Leonard programming the complex audio system being designed by Aura for the new Madame Tussauds Exhibition in New York.

OmniSistem of Wahington state, has added Rick Poole to its sales staff. Poole joins the company from Guitar Center in Tukwila, Washington, where he managed the DJ and lighting department. He has been a mobile and club DJ for 10 years, as well as a successful club systems installer/contractor. His experience with lighting products for the DJ and club level will be a great asset to bolster sales of the Programmi Sistem Luce (PSL) products, the COEF MP250 series, and La Novalight Booster and centrepieces.

On August 1 Stig Poulsen took over as Martin Professional's new R&D director replacing long-time head of R&D, Finn Kaellestrup. Poulsen joins Martin from building control company Danfoss where he was technical manager. His principal role will be to develop the R&D department's flexibility and design capabilities, as well as to strengthen the company's infrastructure.

Former deputy show director of the Cosmopolitan Show, Matt Briggs, has joined brand experience consultancy Hotcakes as a full-time producer. The appointment of Briggs, who has worked closely with Hotcakes for the past two years in producing Cosmopolitan Show's award-winning catwalk show, underlines Hotcakes' push to recruit skilled individuals from a variety of sectors. His responsibilities will include the initiation and management of projects, close client liaison, co-ordinating the teams allocated to each event, controlling and managing budgets and production schedules and identifying and acting on opportunities as and when they arise.

PLASA Publishing has learned that Robert Bell, one of the three co-founders of Canadian software specialist CAST Lighting, has left the company to move on to new projects. CAST Lighting is best-known for its highly-popular WYSIWYG lighting design softare. Bell, who is currently working with John Rayment on the lighting of the Olympic Games in Sydney, says he has no precise plans at present, but is excited about the future.

Mark White, until recently a member of the team of theatre consultants at the Royal Opera House, is to join ETC Europe on October 2 as sales manager for the UK and Eire. Having been part of the theatre industry since 1985, White's career has included the development of bespoke lighting and control equipment for shows including Cats and Phantom of the Opera . He has also designed lighting and effects for major exhibitions and displays, including Eurodisney, and his extensive knowledge and experience will prove invaluable to the ETC Europe sales team. Mike Lowe, managing director of ETC Europe, told PLASA Publishing: "The addition of Mark, with all his practical experience, demonstrates the fact that ETC continues its commitment to providing the best customer service in the business."

Following the appointment of Allan Gallacher as its regional sales manager in the North, Trantec Systems has further boosted its sales force with the appointment of Gary Waywell to a similar role in the South. Waywell has spent the last two years with Stagetec UK and was previously with CCT Lighting, where he was involved with the launch of the Freedom range. He will join Tranetc in time for the PLASA launch of a new range of products.

Live event company Hotcakes has today announced the formal appointment of five senior figures to its new Board of Directors. The Board will consist of Chris Spencer (executive producer and managing director), Helene Spencer (visual director), Sean Canning (creative director), Dick Tee (production director) and Alison Esse (communications director). The Board has been formalised as the company enters a new phase of development and expansion. Hotcakes already designs, produces and manages creative shows and live events for a number of different brands and organisations in the UK, including Marks & Spencer, Cosmopolitan Show and Prima, as well as the creative production for International Festival of the Sea, and will be announcing new projects in the near future.

Coemar DeSisti Australia has announced staff changes to cope with steadily increasing business. David Lee joins the company as TV and film lighting specialist. David has had 30 years' experience in the lighting industry including theatre, concert, corporate and TV lighting, spending 20 years working for BTQ7 in Brisbane. During the time at BTQ7 he was responsible for all studio and location lighting and also a number of large outside broadcast events such as Gladiators, RAQ Fashion Awards and Brisbane Lord Mayor's Christmas Carols for seven years, as well as game and children's shows such as Wipeout, Amazing, Family Feud and A Big Breakfast. He was also technical director/lighting director for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics (Australian TV Coverage) and lighting director for News and Today Show at 1988 Seoul Olympics for the NBC Network USA.

Lightfactor Sales continues its ongoing expansion and re-structuring with the appointment of Paul de Ville as managing director. De Ville will be working proactively alongside Lightfactor's established sales team in a move designed to free up Mick Hannaford to deal with group expansion, product line development and the marketing of the group. De Ville is one of the most colourful characters of the lighting production and performance industry. For the last 15 years he has worked at the Lighting Technology Group, and is a well-known and respected figure throughout the industry.

David Bruml is joining Funktion One as sales and marketing manager in October. Bruml has been in the audio industry many years and was at one time with Turbosound, where he developed his initial passion for the work of Tony Andrews and his partners at Funktion One. Tony Andrews comments: "We are delighted that David has agreed to join us co-ordinating our marketing and sales strategy. We are looking forward to working with him over the coming years."

Color Kinetics has expanded its senior management team. Five new Vice Presidents - including two promoted from within the company - have joined the senior team. The company was founded in 1997 and in just under three years has grown to nearly 100 employees. Joining the existing senior team members who have been in place since the early days of Color Kinetics are Bruce Beck, vice president, business development who brings over 28 years experience in new market development and sales to the company. C Audio has reinforced its senior management structure to enable them to sustain and maximise the early sales potential in the wake of last year's successful worldwide launch of the new Pulse switched-mode amplification series. The key change sees David Neal take up the role of sales and marketing director, in parallel to his duties with BSS Audio. At the same time, Dominic Harter has been appointed as sales engineer for C Audio, covering all sales to European markets. Ruth Buchanan becomes sales office manager with responsibility for both BSS and C Audio, and Paul Bass becomes C Audio marketing co-ordinator. Laser Grafix of Royston have been successful in persuading Richard Wright to join the company as Group sales manager. Wright has left his role as general manager and director designate of GVC Laserpoint. Wright will bring with him a great deal of sales experience, not only from his time at Laserpoint but also from his work for Philips Analytical, and his knowledge of the videowall and large screen industry will prove invaluable.

DPA Microphones in Denmark continues on its impressive expansion curve, and has again increased the strength of its sales department, recruiting Steffen Leth Møller to the European team. He takes up the role of area manager, working right across the continent. Prior to joining DPA Microphones, he completed a four-year technical education as an export technician and spent five years with the Michelin Group in Denmark, where he was a technical sales representative.

Continuing expansion at Logic System Pro Audio has seen the recent appointment of Jenna Mckirgan to the position of administration assistant. Based at the company's Gainsborough factory, Mckirgan will be responsible for purchasing and general sales support. Working closely with Dean Davoile, who will be the first point of contact for customers calling the office.

Canford now has a new sales and operations director. The ex commercial-radio engineer turned entrepreneur, Iain Elliott, who founded the outfit back in the seventies, has returned to the fold. Whilst Elliot concentrates on the product and customer side of the operation, Phil Buckle, a man with a wealth of manufacturing and distribution experience, has joined as chief executive. With the appointments Canford is now back to the course set years ago, with "engineers communicating with engineers", and a commitment to the continuation and development of the the Canford catalogue, now in its 20th year of production.

Further emphasising DHA Lighting's expansion into international markets, the company has announced the appointment of Rainer Weggen, previously of Lightpower Showtechnik, as its fourth international regional sales manager from October 1. Weggen, who will continue to be based in Germany, has tremendous knowledge and experience of DHA's product range following six and half years at Lightpower looking after key account customers. In his new role, he takes on responsibility for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Eastern Bloc countries.

Federal Signal has announced the return to the company of Alan Weston as area sales manager for the North of England and Scotland. His appointment coincides with the restructure of the firm's national sales force and the launch of a new range of products from the Millbank public address range. Weston, who has vast experience in the voice alarm industry, rejoins Federal from specialist public address installer TG Baker Sound. In addition to developing markets for existing and new Millbank products, he will also focus on the company's Akusta products, dedicated to the oil and gas sectors.

LMC Audio Systems has announced that the company's head of sales & marketing for London, Graham Allen, has now been appointed to head of sales and marketing for LMC company wide. Graham has 10 years' industry experience and has worked for several major players including Behringer, Shuttlesound and more recently with Sysco (The Systems Company). Only recently appointed, Graham has already proved himself a great team player, and is now responsible for sales and marketing at LMC's London, Birmingham and Leeds branches.

Jai Auguste has joined the sales department at TMB's UK operation in Brentford. With his many years of experience as operations manager at The Spot Co and more recently as head of sales, design and installation at HFM Lighting, Auguste will become an integral part of TMB's sales operations in Europe and worldwide. TMB recently moved its European operations to a larger facility in Brentford's docklands and significantly increased the amount and variety of on-hand inventory, in addition to increasing the number of support and assembly personnel.
