UK - Really Creative Media (RCM) provided screen content along with equipment and touring engineers for Jax Jones March tour, cut short by COVID-19. It was the company’s final gig before the UK entered full lockdown on 23 March.
RCM was enlisted to create the dynamic screen content for DJ Jax Jones’ first tour since the September 2019 launch of the artists Snack (Supersize) album. A month ahead of the tour, RCM’s Jack Fox liaised with creative director Aimee Phillips and the artist, working alongside lighting director Liam Griffiths of Stage Techniques and production management team Only Helix to create a new show with fresh material for the on-stage LED wall. They also re-purposed existing content from previous tours, before getting creative in the company’s London editing studio.

Europe - Austrian microphone specialist Lewitt has joined forces with artist Avec to bring the music community closer together and to keep the creative spirit alive.
Working with Avec, Lewitt has created the #LEWITTMusicChallenge, giving the chance to show your creativity and win Lewitt microphones.

Then simply upload your version of the song to a social media platform, tag the post with #LEWITTMusicChallenge, share it with your friends and invite them to take part.”

Norway - Dedicated microphone techniques and ensuring a clean and short signal path is how Norwegian producer and engineer Morten Lindberg achieves “great sound capture” for his classical music label, 2L. DPA microphones play a key part in this process because they provide the transparency and sonic clarity he needs for his projects. This is particularly true for his immersive recordings, which are overturning some basic concepts regarding how music is composed and performed.
The music captured by 2L features Norwegian composers and performers and an international repertoire reflected in the Nordic atmosphere. 2L began as a production company, but is now also a record label, releasing 10 to 15 recordings a year, all on Hybrid SACD, Pure Audio Blu-ray and distributed as HiRes files.
Until 2020, Lindberg held the record for the most Grammy nominations without a win -

UK - The beginning of 2020 saw the finals of the IFMAR 2020 1/12 World Championship at Milton Keynes’ Centre MK. Event production supplier, SFL, provided a zoned AV system for the event, made all the more challenging by the Championships being held in a working shopping centre that remained open to the public throughout.
The IFMAR 2020 1/12 is hosted by the BRCA (British Radio Car Association), which races over 13 different classes of radio-controlled model racing cars. It took place over five days in Centre MK’s dedicated 1800sq.m exhibition space, which is situated within the main shopping area, and attracted an impressive 100,000 visitors to watch the thrills and spills of this exciting event.
SFL’s involvement with IFMAR started four years ago at its UK National Meeting, the first IFMAR event held at Centre MK. "I took a small van, set the gear up and then

USA - In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Chris Brodman and Cody Lisle of LIT Lighting have launched LIT Live, a live stream for music shows.
Prior to the lockdown, most of LIT’s work involved lighting festivals and corporate events. Brodman and Lisle had no experience streaming live music. They brought together a team of experienced volunteers and, adhering strictly to social distance protocols - set up times were staggered to avoid crowding and all equipment was consistently disinfected - they began streaming live music shows on Twitch.TV and Facebook.
The first show featured Hollywood Slasher and was lit by Casey Jones, who ran his rig on a ChamSys Magic Q Maxi wing PC system; while the second, featuring DJ Yellow, was run by James Simpson. Both performances were given dynamic, colourful looks with the help of 16 Maverick MK2 Spot, 22 Rogue R2 Wash and 12 Rogue

Italy - An a installation of Shure’s ULX-D Digital Wireless and Shure’s QLX-D wireless systems has been deployed throughout an 18,000 seat, 65 room conference and exhibition venue that occupies over 54,000sq.m of exhibition space in Italy.
The MiCo Milan Convention Centre hosts over 500 events each year and is part of the Fiera Milano Group, one of the largest trade fair and exhibition organisers in the world and part of Fiera Milano Congressi, an international conference centre operator and venue management company.
The choice of wireless system was crucial to guarantee crystal clear audio and perfect intelligibility for the audience, especially with so many devices in daily operation throughout the venue space, as well as the potential for DVB-T interference. It was a high priority to have a system that ensures the reliability of at least 100 channels in action w

Israel - Meir Nitzan Rishon LeZion Cultural Hall has upgraded its audio system, the ultimate aim being to offer a first-class system that would significantly reduce the need for visiting productions to carry their own equipment, thus reducing the environmental impact of transportation. The main auditorium hosts a full range of productions, from drama and musical theatre to classical concerts and rock and roll. The venue also serves as the home of the Israeli Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion as

Ireland - The Irish première of the hit musical comedy, Spamalot (School Edition), took place recently in County Mayo. The show, written by Eric Idle and based around the hit film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, has been a favourite of audiences all over the world since its Broadway debut in 2005.
The run of five shows took place in the newly built multi-purpose hall of the Sancta Maria College in Louisburgh. Whilst the setting might suggest a modest production, limited by the technical and financial resources of a school, the reality was anything but. The college’s production of Spamalot, directed by Head of English and theatre arts specialist, Marina Rice, was able to call on the services of two west of Ireland-based companies...

Sweden - The Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel in Gothenburg recently commissioned a new 'design lighting' solution over the hotel's common area. Sweden based Priebe-ScanRig AB (PSRIG) was appointed to deliver and fit two large truss constructions with associated suspension. The truss would constitute as a carrier for the newly commissioned solution – with one of the constructions to be motorised while the other, permanently installed, would hang from steel wires.
Aart Gigengack, sales manager and co-owner of PSRIG explained: "During the installation of the lighting solution, the truss grids needed to be raised and lowered. With the installation being performed over an extended period of time, the installers needed a fast and simple way to see the loads being applied on each suspension point."
Aart specified the use of Broadweigh load cells and Handheld Advanced to the

USA - Quick to adapt its business model to the current situation, Premier Entertainment Group in Dothan, Alabama has transformed its warehouse into a full service video production studio. Kitted out with lighting from ADJ and sister company Elation Professional, the facility is being used by DJs, bands and church worship groups to professionally record sets that can then be broadcast through online streaming.

“During Easter we always look for creative ways to reach more people by expanding production,” said Parker. “Once it became clear we would not be able to hold our usual Easter services, we started searching for innovative ways to improve our online production le

UK - Dan Ridd and Steven Haynes of Clearsound Productions in Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire, positioned eight Robe MegaPointes on the roof of their warehouse –and beamed them around the town and up into the night sky, creating a special piece of light art to connect the local community and show support for the efforts of frontline and essential workers and the National Health Service (NHS).
The action was inspired by the now weekly Clap For Carers initiative (started in the UK by Annemarie Plas) which united millions across the country who appeared in windows and doorways clapping and rattling or thumping percussive objects, the first of which had happened at 8.00 p.m. on the previous Thursday.
Dan participated in this and realised just how much you can actually hear. This prompted him and Steve to think about what you might be able to see, coupled with the ma

New Zealand - The Paraparaumu Southwards Car Museum marked the installation of its new lighting system with a concert in its 474-seat multi-use theatre by Adrian Dittmer’s Bruce Springsteen tribute band.
When he isn’t playing bass for the Springsteen tribute band, Dittmer is the sales and marketing manager of MDR Sound and Lighting in Palmerston North. After he reached out to the museum theatre, about a possible gig, its tech director Levi Hampton told him that the facility was looking to do a lighting upgrade.
“Once Levi mentioned what the theatre wanted to do, I put on my MDR hat and told him that we could supply anything he needed,” said Dittmer. “The theatre was pulling out the existing fly system, as it was no longer effective, and they were no longer hosting traditional theatrical productions. They were wanting to replace that system with a truss grid

With a plethora of aerial shots on the camera angle agenda, the team devised the large, round stage as an eye-catching centrepiece for the action, which was broadcast live in the USA by Fox and around the world by multiple networks.
“We used two of the new Tierra+ Media Servers on the show - one main, one backup - each doing 2x 4K outputs for the stage,” R

USA - Grace Primitive Baptist Church in Pearl, Mississippi supports a close-knit community of believers with very traditional services. Spoken word and sung vocals are the focus, with occasional support from backing tracks. Its long, rectangular sanctuary can accommodate approximately 300 congregants, but until recently, many of them had difficulty understanding what was being said or sung.
AV integration firm Sound and Communications (SoundCOM) of Flowood, Mississippi solved Grace Primitive’s intelligibility problems by designing and installing a new sound reinforcement system led by a single, unobtrusive Danley Sound Labs SM100 full-range, point-source loudspeaker.
“The old loudspeaker they had in there was original to the building, which is 17 years old,” explained Allen Cotton, solutions architect with Sound and Communications. “They weren’t pleased with
