The festival promises an action-packed, environmentally, and animal-friendly evening
UK - A spectacular eco and pet-friendly alternative to fireworks will set the skies ablaze above London’s Hammersmith and Fulham with a new show marking this Guy Fawkes season.
The 12 innovative Lights and Laser Spectacular shows at Ravenscourt and Bishops Parks are being staged over two nights during the Fawkes Festival, run in partnership with the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham.
Designed and produced by the team at GC Live and delivered by technical partners, 21CC Group, the festival promises an action-packed, environmentally, and animal-friendly evening.
Themed around A Night at the Movies, the shows feature an immersive light and laser display with sky trackers, flames and special effects all choreographed to a soundtrack of light and laser-themed film scores and classic movie music.
The displays have been created by award-winning lighting designer Durham Marenghi who has worked on the late Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee concerts and Olympic and Paralympic Ceremonies in Turin, Beijing, Sochi and Rio.
Durham Marenghi commented: “We have crafted a visually stunning show which is going to be mesmerising but without the perceived negative impact that fireworks can have on the environment and animals.
“Creating the musical journey of the show has been a labour of love and one that will entrance the audience. It’s a unique new way to experience Guy Fawkes Night and a truly green alternative to traditional fireworks.”
Before and during the series of light shows, being held at both Ravenscourt Park and Bishops Parks on 3 and 4 November, spectators will be able to enjoy a range of entertainment from funfair rides to catering, bubble performances, LED Stilt walkers, neon face painting, interactive experiences and more.
Geoff Crow, director of 21CC Group said: “We’re bringing Guy Fawkes into the modern day as a totally new, equally exhilarating experience. Although it still features all the fun and thrills of a traditional event, this is a sustainably-focused version of a Guy Fawkes spectacular which echoes Hammersmith & Fulham’s environmental values and vision.” There will be three displays at the parks each evening.
Cllr. Sharon Holder, Hammersmith & Fulham’s cabinet member for the public realm said: “We are delighted to be hosting the first environmentally-friendly Guy Fawkes festival and working with GC Live and 21CC Group on the delivery of this innovative event. The new format reflects Hammersmith and Fulham’s ambition for the borough to become net zero carbon by 2030 and we are very excited about seeing all of this come to life.”
GC Live and 21CC Group are committed to both business and event sustainability, striving to reduce overall energy, material and resource usage whilst delivering high-impact, affordable events for all. Their events include an Environmental & Sustainability Plan designed to minimise the impact of events on the environment, whilst maximising the economic impact for local businesses and experiential impact for attendees. This partnership supports Hammersmith and Fulham’s commitment to its ambitious target of achieving net-zero carbon across the borough by 2030.
GC Live also has a Green Small Business certification and is working with Citizen Ticket as their official ticketing partner for the event.
