Providing a bespoke mentorship programme delivered by executives and experts from both Abbey Road Studios and Universal Music, and unparalleled access to Abbey Road's facilities and international network of contacts, the inaugural three companies have been announced as OSSIC, UberChord and CloudBounce. All three companies were recruited through an open process of online submission, followed by multiple rounds of assessment, pitching and selection.
Building on an unrivalled 85 year legacy of developing ground breaking technological advances, Abbey Road Red ensures Abbey Road's place as the creative hub for technological pioneers now, and for the future.
Abbey Road Studios' managing director Isabel Garvey says, "Abbey Road is an extraordinary place that has been instrumental in developing and utilising state of the art technology since it opened in 1931. Abbey Road Red shows that we are passionate about remaining ahead of the technological arc and are committed to embracing the future, as well as being incredibly proud of our legacy."
Jon Eades, project manager, Abbey Road Red, adds, "At Abbey Road we are committed early adopters of technological advances in sound and recording and we have a well-documented history to prove this. Abbey Road Red is our way of working with today's innovators - the music tech start-ups who are defining the future and creating new technologies. We are very much looking forward to working with our first intake to the incubator and helping them each to grow their businesses while learning from them in the process."
Applications for submission to the second programme of Abbey Road Red, starting in September 2016, are open now and can be made here: www.abbeyroad.com/abbeyroadred
