The television station's technical team, supervised by Mohammad Refaie, head of Abu Dhabi TV's Lighting Unit, specified the technical requirements for the upgrade. "We needed a new console, capable of handling both conventional and moving lights," said Refaie. Oasis Enterprises, officially appointed ETC's regional distributor in October 2002, came up with the perfect solution to meet the brief, supplying and installing the 3000 channel Obsession II, together with ten Source Fours.
The Source Fours were added to the many ETC luminaires the studio already has in its lighting rig, as well as the Sensor dimming and Express 250 consoles, which were installed about four years ago. And there's more to come: Abu Dhabi TV is planning to upgrade an Express 250 to its new, full potential, incorporating the latest version of the WYSIWYG lighting visualization software. After the installation, ETC provided the studio's staff with two training sessions on operating the new console. Immediately after the installation, Richard Lambert, ETC's technical services manager, assisted with programming and basic training and a couple of weeks later, David Gray, ETC's field project manager for the Southern Region, made a follow-up visit.
