Production company Comtec Presentations appointed ACE PA to provide a PA system for the various speakers and performing artists during the three-day conference and celebration. Approximately 3,000 club members attended this year's event. For the conference - where guest speakers included HRH Princess Anne, Duncan Goodhew and Orpheus Trust founder Richard Stilgoe - there were inputs from two lectern mics, six radio mics, with VT, PC, DVD, CD and MD feeds. The first evening's entertainment included performances from a steel band, three school orchestras and a 200-strong choir, supported by carefully placed condenser microphones. Other entertainment highlights during the event included the 15-piece Mike James Big Band, an Irish Jig group and a Scottish Pipe Band.
The ML3000 also managed monitor duties, with 10 outputs used as monitor sends. Auxes 1-6 were used for monitor sends for the various bands, with aux 7 and 8 utilised for effects. More sends served a back-stage production monitor, a feed to the induction loop system and two separate recording sends via the matrix.
"Having 8 aux sends and a 4-way matrix meant we were easily able to cover requirements. Having this frame size desk meant that all the settings for the daytime conference could be left in place with plenty of capacity remaining for the evening events," comments ACE PA's managing director Gary Jones. "The ML3000's performance and quality make the job so much easier."
