As well as catering for the clubbers in the university, there has been a number of major acts making an appearance on the 3sixty stage including Supergrass, Miss Dynamite, Lisa Mafia, Reef, Dannii Minogue, The Bluetones and Judge Jules! The new sound system had to ensure it did not infringe on the stage or floor area, remained within the aesthetics' of the existing décor, provides a system that will cope with play back and touring bands and finally be cost effective, reliable and low maintenance. Ian MacDonald, Readings venue manager chose AD Systems after seeing the range at PLASA 2004. He particularly liked the new CLA-2 Line Array. 3Sixty is an unforgiving venue where acoustic harmony is a concern but MacDonald was more than pleased when he heard the CLA-2 Line Array in the venue.
It was decided to fly the eight CLA-2 just behind the existing lighting rig, the bass element of the system consisted of three AD-B218 cabinets which were installed under the main stage, ensuring the arrangement is unobtrusive. The enclosures are powered by four AD Systems K-4 [2 x 1350W 4 Ohm] amplifiers and the processing is handled by an AD Systems DSC 24 digital controller. This is the first UK University venue to use the AD Systems Line Array and it has already caused a great deal of interest from other venue managers.
