The concert was staged in front of the spectacular Sagrada Familia Temple, designed by Spanish architect Antonio Gaudi, with each of the event's performers representing a different religious faith. Native American singer Joanne Shenandoah was the first of the evening's musical artists; other performers included the Cor Gospel Barcelona, the Shumei Taiko Ensemble, Theravada Buddhist monks and pianist Carmen MirĂ³.
As a symbol of the possibility of understanding between religions, the group Sheva - comprised of Jews and Muslims from Israel - closed the concert by uniting the various performers for a musical finale.
