ADI innovation at Gymnastics Championships
- Details
From 29 October to 6 November, Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena will play host to over 500 of the world’s greatest gymnasts from over 75 countries, and after an extensive consultation process, ADI have been chosen to lead the transformation of three venues across the ACC Liverpool complex.
With the event theme, ‘Welcome to our World’, ADI will be managing all of the digital engagement platforms throughout the M&S Bank Arena, Fan Zone and Athlete’s After Party, including the technical delivery of dynamic content, audio and lighting for the sports presentation elements. In addition to this, 750sqm of modular LED will be installed, creating 15 digital touchpoints for spectators to interact with.
The platforms coalesce to give spectators direct consumption of live competition action, replays, highlights, leaderboards and ceremony performances. The forward-thinking solutions proposed by ADI are set to reinvent the spectator experience at elite Gymnastics events by fusing immersive digital activations with bespoke LED displays.
ADI’s experience in transforming empty spaces into vibrant environments for some of the world’s biggest sporting occasions and federations has made them the ideal partner to bring this 8-day event to life. The Preston-based company have a rich history of supplying LED display solutions to global Gymnastics events, more recently providing screens for the 2022 European Championships in Munich and 2022 British Gymnastics Championships.
The ACC Liverpool complex will be digitally transformed with a variety of immersive video assets and interactive applications for spectators to engage with. To deliver this, ADI have teamed up with audio specialists, Cue Audio, and stadia game experts, Piing, to drive mass spectator engagement through complex data-over-audio solutions, augmented reality concepts and interactive multiplayer gaming.
Inside the M&S Bank Arena, which will act as the main competition venue, a custom-built, high-res LED Athlete’s Entrance will display teams, athlete profiles and branded content, along with a digital judges panel, perimeter displays and a giant four-sided cubic scoreboard to generate a truly unique in-bowl experience.
Outside of the venue, floor art and digital totems featuring Liverpool-based buskers will be in place to create a warm welcome for ticketholders on arrival, and further celebrate the region’s up-and-coming talent. The busker performances were filmed at the British Music Experience in Liverpool in September and transformed from concept to reality by ADI’s production team.
Creative content for the screens has been crafted in-house and will be delivered across all platforms synchronously. The solution being deployed offers ADI the ability to manage content delivery in real-time and take full control of the venue’s digital platforms.
ADI have worked closely with numerous stakeholders - including the Liverpool City Council, World Gymnastics and British Gymnastics committee - to conceptualise, create and project manage spectacular opening, closing and daily ceremonies.
“We are working with several stakeholders to conceptualise and deliver a range of innovative production solutions, from bespoke digital displays featuring creative content, through to unique opening and closing ceremonies,” says Thomas Taylor, head of sales, ADI’s Live Division. “We are eager to push the boundaries of what can be delivered at big-arena sporting events and we are delighted to have the opportunity to inject so much creativity into this particular event.”
