On show were the LR7 micro pro-ribbon line-array and LR7B micro line-array bass unit, plus the Cinema Ribbon Monitor System (CRMS) three-way reference cinema sound system, first seen at this year's ISE Show.
However, the most noteworthy product on display was the new LR24 pro-ribbon line-array system, which is a major development for Alcons and marks an important advance for the company within the concert touring and large-scale installation market.
Designed to be able to deliver the same SPL as equivalent products in the mid-size line-array category, but with 15dB less distortion, the Alcons LR24 system utilises Alcons' pro-ribbon technology.
"We were extremely pleased with the response to the LR24," says Alcons managing director, Tom Back. "It's the culmination of three years work by the Alcons team and fulfils our desire to bring Hi-Fi quality sound at concert SPLs to what is new market sector for us."
The LR24 system has been developed from the ground-up, resulting in three pending patents and is a complete package, comprising the LR24 mid-size three-way line-array, featuring an all-new pro-ribbon mid-high transducer platform; the LM24 low-frequency array-extension; BQ211 high-impact sub; BC543 self-contained cardioid sub and the ALC Sentinel - a powerful four channel DSP-based controller with full Class D amplifier stages onboard.
"The next phase in the development of the LR24 is to beta test the system, fine-tuning certain aspects to make sure it is fully roadworthy when we are ready to start shipping," continues Back. "It gained a lot of interest at the show and we have already had a number of rental companies approach us for this next stage and we're looking forward to working with them as well as with our Ribbon Network members.
"We have also had great feedback from some top end installation projects, which have requested demos and for us to make the system available for participation in various shootouts."
