The Vista 5 console is destined for the Backa Teater company, part of the Gothenborg City Theatre, or Stadsteater, and generally regarded as one of the most interesting and attractive theatre groups in Sweden. Music plays a large role in its live productions and there are five musicians working permanently in the group.
In 1989, the Backa company moved into a reconstructed factory on the Hisingen Island close to the central parts of Gothenburg, but, after eighteen years in that building, the City of Gothenburg has decided to give Backa Theatre a new home. Also a former factory at Hising Island, in the expanding area Lindholmen, the new house will open later this year with the Studer Vista 5 at its heart.
According to Studer's sales manager Jarle Felin, "The theatre's sound engineers were completely convinced by the ease of the Vistonics user interface which makes all the Vista Series consoles so very accessible." The 32-fader desk consists of 20 channel strips, optimised for input channel operation, and 12 additional versatile strips for operating output and input channels. By using the standard Vistonics screen, up to 52 outputs are under immediate control.
In related news, Studer has appointed a new distributor for its products in Sweden. Driven by its success with the brand in Norway, the well-known Norwegian importer and sales agency LydRommet is to open a new company, based in Stockholm. LydRommet's President Christian Wille explains the reasons behind the move.
"Although Norway is a small country, LydRommet has created one of Studer's most successful markets here. We have sold 15 Vista Series consoles into the broadcast and theatre sectors here, as well as many other large-format digital and analogue Studer desks. Drawing on our main technical resource in Oslo, we feel that we can bring our expertise and experience to be of benefit to the professional audio community in Sweden." LydRommet Sverige will be taking over responsibility for all service and support of existing Studer consoles.
