The 32-channel mixer managed 20 bands over the three days, providing live sound reinforcement for acts such as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Graham Coxon, The Rakes, The Subways, Echo and the Bunnymen, the Futureheads, Funeral For a Friend, and Mondo Generator. The select 100-capacity audience even included some big names such as Dave Grohl and Pete Doherty, who came to see their celebrity associates perform.
"The GL3800 performed flawlessly - it's a fantastic desk," commented sound engineer, Ed Shackleton. "I particularly love the new EQ, which has a great range and is very responsive, and the new mic preamps, which are really quiet. The mixer managed the quick band changeovers without a hitch, and all the bands' engineers were very impressed."
Footage of the sessions will be posted on the Tiscali website, and a live mix CD will also be released later in the year. Up All Night Music's MD, Phil Taylor, added: "We're very satisfied with our new purchase as the GL has proved to be very rider friendly, easy for engineers to use, and has fantastic sonic quality. We debuted the desk at the Secret Garden Festival the weekend before Reading and it managed a staggering 65 bands over three days. Our schedule is always hectic - we manage 15 gigs a week in London as well as various festivals and events - it's a great addition to our hire stock."
