Scott Davies, general manager of the American DJ Group of companies said: "American DJ is always striving to make the latest lighting technology available to our core customers - mobile DJs, working bands and small clubs, these lighting users were telling us they wanted to join the trend to moving head effects, but without having to pay a thousand dollars or more for a fixture. So we came up with the idea of designing a moving head with a less expensive halogen lamp. The DJ Spot 250 provides sufficient brightness for the average DJ or club's needs, plus it's got 360-degree moving head rotation, DMX compatibility and all the other features they want - all at a price they can afford."
The DJ Spot 250 is equipped with 10 gobo patterns (plus spot). It has seven colours plus white. The white image is particularly clean and crisp due to the inclusion of a white colour correction filter. The fixture also features a gobo shake effect and will strobe in every colour. Featuring six DMX channels the DJ Spot can be operated with any standard DMX-512 controller. A digital display allows for easy DMX setup. The DJ Spot 250 can also be operated in stand-alone mode as a sound-activated effect.
For added convenience and to help DJs protect their investment, American DJ has designed a custom case for the DJ Spot 250 called the MH Case 2x, which can hold two units plus cables and controller.
