He approached Bose, who put him in touch with local Bose Pro Partner, Pod 3 AV. A tight schedule meant that they had just two weeks to remove the old system, rewire and install a new Bose system, alongside designers and builders who were refurbishing the whole restaurant and creating a new bar area at the same time.
A combination of Bose FreeSpace 3 satellite cubes and flush bass, plus full range FreeSpace DS16 and FreeSpace DS100 speakers was specified by Tim Dyer of Pod 3, working alongside the Bose design team. Once the refurbishment was complete, Dyer was able to complete a final EQ on the system, and spent a full day with Tony Russo to set the levels to exactly how he wanted them.
The result is a sound system that sounds good whether at background music level or at the higher levels that Russo enjoys once his customers have left. According to Dyer, the high point was when Tony's wife, who also knows a thing or two about music, commented that no matter where one sits in the restaurant, the music levels are the same. "I am thrilled with the result," says Dyer, "especially when the customer is a music producer himself, who admits to staying late at Oscars and turning the music up really loud because he likes the sound of the system so much. That is a really good feeling."
