PECO's Derek Paul is familiar with AKG systems, and has already supplied several WMS PT40 body packs for staff use in assorted Holmes Place fitness centres. He therefore knows the product is reliable and robust, and was confident it would be a good choice for this very specific application.
PECO has been working with Mecca for the last nine years, building and supplying bingo hall and cashier monitors for installation by Mecca's own engineers. The original systems are now suffering due to wear and tear through constant use. With damage to the hand-held microphones, and with the low output transmission, many 'dead spots' are being encountered in the venues. Paul states: "Earlier this year I was looking for a new radio mic system to overcome the problems Mecca was having at the time, and it just happened to coincide with the AKG coming on line. Arbiter supplied some samples, which I gave to Mecca to try out. They loved them, and placed an order immediately."
Paul is enthusiastic about the AKG systems, particularly the durability of the mics. Previously, there had been some difficulty in sourcing hard-wearing microphones and Paul suggested to Arbiter that it would be ideal to have a microphone that could be used both within and without an induction loop. That's when they came up with the AKG. "Arbiter are great as they will go out of their way to source and supply something different" he says.
