UK - The Arena Group installed a wide range of temporary event overlay at the 2010 Ryder Cup. The company provided triple and double decker hospitality structures overlooking the 18th green, media facilities, all 19 temporary spectator seating grandstands, over 60 on-course event structures and furniture to all areas of Celtic Manor.

Ryder Cup match director Edward Kitson says, "Extending the strong working relationship between the Ryder Cup, the PGA European Tour and Arena Group, they (Arena) once again justified our trust through the professional delivery of key elements of the event infrastructure. They have provided a very good service and their offering has enhanced this Ryder Cup tournament."

The project had required months of attentive advance planning, with Arena Seating's project director Bradley Merchant and newly promoted project manager Sam Feaviour walking the course with key stakeholders to consider grandstand positioning. The most impressive seating structure was located at the back of the 18th green, a gargantuan 1,900 capacity, built on a slope which meant the rear right corner measured an extraordinary 17.5m high.

Arena Structures' exclusive triple deck hospitality structure measured 7,375m² and took 10 weeks to complete prior to the tournament. Close by in Arena's 30 x 50m TFS media facility, 1,000 international media watched on as Graham McDowell sealed a close European victory.

Arena Structures project manager James Thomas says, "Our experienced team displayed their logistical prowess following a carefully planned logistics schedule to install the 150 artics of equipment required to construct this most extensive overlay project of the year."

Spaceworks provided a wide range of furniture for the Cup, including 3,000 bar stools, 500 garden sets and 300 soft furnishings to meet the needs of the Ryder Cup and their partners in all public and hospitality areas. The Group, as a preferred supplier to the tournament, liaised closely with management to decide colours and styles, creating a contemporary look.
