ATP appointed Arena Seating when faced with the challenge of accommodating the world's media at London's O2 Arena from 13-18 October, as the venue has no dedicated media area in the spectator section.
Arena's Special Structures Martin Clark project managed the design, manufacture and installation of the bespoke desks. The system was designed to be easily installed (and removed), fitting over the existing in-house tiered seating and providing ideal work stations for over 200 international media reporting on the action.
In his capacity as Arena's special structures manager Martin Clark is currently working on an even more ambitious installation for a sporting event taking place in the O2 Arena in November, the ATP World Tour Finals. Arena's joinery manager Damian Edwards was a key member of the team which designed and is manufacturing 26 bespoke press boxes and four custom media studios. These fully equipped media facilities will meet the needs of the world's media as they watch the top eight tennis seeds battle it out over an eight-day round robin style tournament for the chance to be crowned ATP World Tour Champion.
Arena Seating is exhibiting at the Showman's Show this week. The company is showcasing its luxury Diplomat conference seating range and the Special Structures division has installed a wheelchair users platform, in-line with the specifications now required by event organisers.
