The third generation controller, which can be built up into a zoned installation by adding slave units over copper and/or fibre optic connections, is well established in the PA/VA market and features on recent high-profile projects such as the Signal Iduna Park football stadium in Dortmund and Zurich railway station.
PA/VA installations for sports stadia and transport termini continue to grow in scale so all areas can be covered to ensure passengers and staff receive messages and information relevant to them. Switch mode has been added to the IDA8 family to make this possible and to increase the IDA8 system flexibility whilst providing more cost effective installations.
Both features, Matrix and Switching, can be achieved in one IDA8 system and network: matrix mode is based on a single zone fed by one channel amplifiers; switch mode can use either one or up to four amplifiers to cover multiple zones, as long as there is enough power in the system.
"Matrix mode and switch mode have extended the features and usability of the IDA8 family even further than its already wide capabilities," comments Hans den Hertog, sales and technical director." We look forward to demonstrating these new modes at ISE 2014, which is an important showcase for PA and VA technology."
