Ateis Orbit impresses at Frankfurt
Germany - Ateis Europe took a big leap forward in the development of its public address (PA) and voice alarm (VA) loudspeakers at this year's Prolight&Sound show in Frankfurt with the launch of the Messenger G2 and Orbit ranges. These are an extension of Ateis' column array technology and offer greater frequency response, dynamic range and control for improved intelligibility and directionality, says the company.

The new Messenger G2 range is the fourth generation of Ateis' column array loudspeakers, originally introduced on to the market in the early 1990's. Every few years improvements have been made to range to keep up with what is needed in the demanding PA, background music (BGM) and VA markets.

Using that experience, Ateis' designers have produced the Messenger G2, a range of five active arrays to suit any installation. To offer greater choice and flexibility in its range, Ateis has added the Orbit 360-degree steerable line array and the world's first steerable constant directivity controlled bass array.

All three have been designed specifically for high quality speech and BGM reproduction in reverberant acoustic spaces. The Messenger G2 arrays and the Orbit produce tightly controlled beams of sound, as narrow as five degrees, which can be shaped in nine steps to fit a specific application or room.

Among the features offered by the Messenger G2 and Orbit are integrated DSP control with seven-band parametric equalisation and peak limiter and the adaptable ACOUSTIC controller, which can be moved easily over an area to match the lobe shape of the loudspeakers with the demands of room where they are installed.

Ateis sees these products as a natural progression in the development of both column line array technology and the company itself. "Every season in Formula 1 motor racing the teams bring out new cars that they hope will perform better than the competition," says international sales manager, Albert van der Hout. "The Messenger G2 and Orbit are our new models and we know they will keep us ahead of our competitors and make us champions in the field of public address and voice alarm."
