UK - Raymond Gubbay's Classical Spectacular is returning to the Albert Hall on the 23rd March 2006, with Stage Electrics supplying lighting for the 5th year running, working alongside lighting designer Durham Marenghi.

Over one million people have marvelled at the incredible lights, lasers and special effects that make Classical Spectacular a unique experience. 250 plus performers take to the stage and once again the Royal Albert Hall will resound to the world's best classical music including brand new pieces as well as all time favourites, ending with the thundering cannons, muskets and indoor fireworks of the 1812 Overture.

Stage Electrics supply 23 MAC 700s, eight of which are positioned on the floor, with the rest rigged on the striking above-stage trussing structure together with over 80 other Martin fixtures including MAC 2K Washes, MAC 600 Washes, and MAC 300 Washes as truss toners. Generic lighting includes 8 x 5KW Bambinos and Pixeline 110EC, all controlled by a WholeHog II console with a second Hog II as a synchronised backup.

Marenghi comments: "MAC 700s are incredibly bright. I specified them to be used for powerful profile type effects, which works extremely well."

Stage Electrics also have provided their WYSIWYG pre-programming suite allowing Marenghi and programmer John Sinden to save valuable time by being able to program the desk before stepping into the venue.

This years rig takes on a new guise in the form of the 'Dart' rig which will also visit the NIA in Birmingham and the MEM Arena in Manchester later this year.

Simon Baker project manager for Stage Electrics says: "Durham commented again on the superb standard of lamp preparation for this project, we test each lamp and they are chosen for their matching colour temperature, rather than lamp life, giving an excellent uniform white look. We have been working with Raymond Gubbay on Classical Spectacular for five years now and the show still looks fantastic, continues to use the latest technology to the best of its ability and sells out wherever it goes. We look forward to the next five years."
