He continues: "I decided to recommend the ASP console for the OB-Van because I have not found anything comparable on the current market as most analogue consoles of this quality are much more expensive. The ASP is able to fit in a limited cabin space without losing any of the features for multi-track recording and in addition the 24-channel Millenia-Media HV-3D mic preamps make an excellent 48 mic input console in the smaller size. It was because of these extra features and the desk’s clarity of sound that I was able to convince the radio channel to change from the traditional digital to analogue desk."
The ASP-8024-24 is the result of a research and development program that was driven by the simple goal of establishing a new 'standard' in cost-effective analogue recording - delivering a product that is truly 'technology proof' while at the same time providing the accepted and familiar functionality and performance of existing 'high-end' large scale systems. This particular model had Penny & Giles faders fitted as an option.
Audient has also announced the sale of an ASP-8024-48 patchbay recording console to Grace Community Church in Houston, Texas. The new console, which has been installed in the AV Control room of ‘The Sanctuary’ at Grace Church, had only been up and running for 12 hours when it saw its first session - a 40-track live recording of a 30-piece orchestra and 80-voice choir. The recording, which will be released at Christmas, is entitled 'The Christmas Festival' performed by the Grace Presbyterian Church and the Chancel choir.
Glenn Wheeler, director of audio-visual ministries at Grace Church, comments: "I had heard great things about the desk so I decided to check it out. I expected it to be high quality because of the Deardon/Davies link, but when I heard what it could do I knew I had to have one. On the strength of its sound quality and the manufacturers' experience and reputation in the audio industry I decided to purchase it immediately.
Audient plc was formed in 1997 by David Dearden and Gareth Davies who, before forming Audient, were the founding partners of DDA, whose mixing console designs set new price/performance standards during the 80s and 90s in both the recording and live sound fields.
