Serbia - Members of the Synco Europe Network work in almost every conceivable location but the top of Serbia's most beautiful ski resort mountain, Kopaonik, must be among the most spectacular. This spring the Audiokonstruktor team, which flies the Synco flag in Serbia from its base in Novi Sad on the Danube, had the opportunity to enjoy the unique vibe and star-studded programme of the Big Snow Festival, providing full audio production.

The festival's line up, staged at Europe's highest music site, was led by Basement Jaxx, Junior Jack, DJ Fresh and Freestylers. The audience could also dance with Ms Dynamite, Skism, Eddy Tample Morris, Micky Slim, and a host of domestic bands.

Created and organised by producers of the award-winning EXIT festival and its president Dusan Kova?evi?, the Big Snow Festival was staged at MK Mountain Resort. This all-year resort is in the heart of the tourist center and the National Park of Kopaonik, at 1770m.

Audio Konstruktor provided a full turnkey production services with a team headed by Sinisa Stojiljkovic, providing a quality of sound unheard on the mountain before.

Great music, day and night, on eight stages was delivered by a powerful Synco combination: Synco W8LC speakers, Synco WS318X subs, Synco amp racks, Synco wedges and DiGiCo digital consoles. "Creative and stunning light and video were an important element for the whole impression," comments Audio Konstruktor founder Sreten Kova?evi?. "The atmosphere was intoxicating, with absolutely perfect sound, light and video performance, leaving a big impression on guests from all around the Europe."

He adds: "This was the first Big Snow Festival, with all promotion, organisation and overall production done by the Exit team. On the technical side Audio Konstruktor provided done everything from design, planning to load in/out. Every live band had its own sound engineer. The sound system configuration, mixing DJ-s and the MC and taking care of the overall SPL was my personal responsibility as FOH engineer." Crew chief and main stage monitor engineer was Sinisa Stojiljkovic, with Kristijan Zavodski as stage manager.

"The main challenge." He continued, "was the huge snowfall, which had not been forecast. It turned the load-in into a bit of a nightmare, as there was no chance to approach the hall with trucks. We used big Jon Deer bulldozers instead and it turned an average 3-hour get-in and get-out to almost a whole day for each. During the festival, we combined various motor skies and snowmobiles to move equipment and backline between stages.

"Happily, the temperature was above zero without wind - otherwise it might have really complicated. "But actually, dance music is perfect with the snow. During the day there were three or four stages running, with DJs with lot of energy and joy. The main program was in the big sport hall of the Grand Hotel, starting at 11pm until 5am. The big challenge there was to keep the sound inside, so as not to disturb regular guests. With computer software, we angled the Synco speakers such that we contained the sound pressure of 120dB in the dance area, something that would have been difficult to achieve with other brands."
