The Lexus stand at the Paris Motor Show.
The resources of Creative Technology and Dimension Audio were combined at this year’s Paris Motor Show, where their integrated technology created presentation media, IT infrastructure and audio playback solutions for a number of exhibits. While CT debuted their newly-acquired Barco SLM G8 projectors on the Lexus stand, the centrepiece was the Ford stand, where Kylie Minogue helped launch the new StreetKa.

CT used Dimension Audio as the sound supplier. The latter, working for Imagination, provided a system to fulfil the requirements of sound designer, John Del Nero. The sound source delivery was all from hard disk and the automated show was played out through Dimension’s front-line d&b sound rig. Dimension also provided editing facilities in the form of their Syntrillium Cool Edit Pro suite.

CT’s project manager, Darren Alexander, was overseeing the performance of the 11 x 5 high-brightness Barco i8 LED wall, which was positioned at the top of the ramp, behind the StreetKa. "Imagination specifically requested a high-resolution screen for the Kylie Minogue press event," he reported, as the diminutive one was revealed signing the bonnet of the new Ford StreetKa. CT’s four-camera PPU, comprising digital microwaves and Steadicams, were also used at the press event, while playback was via a Doremi V1-D hard drive unit. The PPU was shared with the Mazda press event, where the action was displayed on an 8 x 6 Barco i10 (10mm) high brightness LED screen. Creative Technology also dug into their inventory to service a number of other leading stands with cutting-edge display technology.

For Landrover - where CT was working through KTA Design - a further 11 x 6 Barco i10 modular LED wall was deployed. The technical exhibit was a cutaway of the new Range Rover. Dataton control was used to trigger a Doremi, which played a film sequence apposite to the exhibit. On completion of the film, Dataton prompted the exhibit to move to its next position, where another film was played.

Also seeking the highest resolution display to launch their new XJ were Jaguar, for whom CT provided an 8 x 5 i8 Barco wall, with 8mm pixel pitch. CT featured a three-camera PPU, with Doremi playback, supplied through production company GLS Design. Over at Volvo, CT supplied design company Ambrosius with a pair of staggered Lighthouse 10mm ‘quarter-bin’ walls and a three-camera PPU for the press event. High-definition playback was from an Accom WSS/HD hard disk and Doremi V1-HD.

Finally, CT managed the functionality of the Aston Martin stand, where a series of 15 x 15" monitors, supplied by Imagination, were driven from an MPEG server. In addition to the display reinforcement, CT’s IT division supplied an IT infrastructure for Ford/Mazda and managed the network for Aston Martin.
