UK - The Avolites Media Sapphire Media Infinity video control system has been awarded the prestigious PLASA Award for Innovation.

During this year's PLASA show at Earl's Court in September, 47 products were judged, 'live' in front of show visitors, as an independent panel of expert judges toured the show floor, camera crew in tow, to view presentations about each product.

"Nominees are asked to demonstrate a new style of thinking, an improvement in technical practice, an aid to safety, energy-saving or sustainability benefits, or new technology, materials or techniques," explains one of the judges.

Designed and manufactured in the UK, Avolites Media's Sapphire Media Infinity represents the next exciting step in Media Server technology, says Steve Warren, managing director of Avolites Media. "The powerful unit contains an incredible 8 Full HD outputs and conveniently, each DVI output has an accompanying preview output. The Ai Infinity also includes internal EDID management, LTC and MIDI Time-code, Genloc Input, Multi-Server Frame-sync and Master-Slave remote control which all goes to produce an incredibly flexible video controller."

Seeing the Sapphire Media Infinity in action, the judges commented: "It's the first integrated video control surface dedicated to video. It's well thought through and well designed."

The Avolites Media Sapphire Media Infinity has already been put to spectacular use at the Olympics and Para-Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies. The Ai Infinity was used to help map and control the 70,500 mini pixel screens located in the stadium seating, which together created the world's largest video screen ever.

Steve Warren, MD of Avolites Media, enthusiastically stated, "This is the start of a new era at Avolites and 2012 has been an amazing year for all within the Avolites team. As well as Titan V6 receiving fantastic user reviews, we are filled with pride at our opportunity to amaze the world's largest viewing audience ever with the Olympic Games audience pixels.

"At the same time, and overshadowed by the Games, we controlled a massive 800 sq. mt, high res LED screen and 12 mapped HD projectors for the Miss World Finals in China. The icing on this sensational cake was to receive the recognition and respect of our peers in the industry by being awarded a PLASA Award for Innovation!"
