‘We know it’s going to be a truly fabulous day’

UK - Backup Tech’s annual summertime day of fun and frivolity, this year renamed The Fabulous Village Fete in celebration of Adam Taylor, aka Adam Fabulous, DJ and long-time supporter of the event, will once again take place at Surrey’s Daytona Sandown Park on Thursday 10 July.

With shooting brakes, feather boas, picnic blankets, cake creations and voluminous veg to the fore, the industry is invited to enjoy the event’s perennial favourites, including Best Dressed Fete’r, the hugely popular Bake Off and Veg Off, The Straw Stage for live entertainment and workshops, Peasant laser clay Shooting, the Food and Craft Fest stalls and some new additions, to be announced later in the build-up to the day.

“The fete stalls proved incredibly popular last year, and even more companies want them this year so, to make sure no one misses anything because of a long walk, we’re moving the fete area back to its original location near the entrance to Daytona, with the food stalls now overlooking the racetrack,” says Backup’s Lee Dennison.

“We’ll also have the usual Backup area, which hosts the Bake Off, Veg Off and Hay Bales Sessions, and we are looking to bring the Manor House back for those who want a slightly more elite experience. There’s plenty for everyone, so make sure you get your tickets as soon as they go on sale.”

PLASA’s Peter Heath will once again be heading up the Parish judging panel, ably assisted by LSi’s Claire Beeson, TPi’s Stewart Hume and AAA’s Chris Barrett who, with forks in hand, will take on the challenge of consuming their weight in cake to declare the positions of baker supreme and veg grower extraordinaire.

“With so much to entertain including, of course, the much-loved karting competition and the now famous 5 Star Cases Flight Case Relay, the food stalls and post-race entertainment, we know it’s going to be a truly fabulous day,” concludes Lee. “Tickets will be on sale towards the end of March. Watch out for details on our social channels and the Backup Tech website.”  www.backuptech.uk
