Baldwin Boxall's VIGIL EVAS products.
UK - Baldwin Boxall Communications will be launching its latest Emergency Voice Communication system - VIGIL OmniCare at International Fire Expo. This latest development allows users to have disabled refuge remotes, fire telephones remotes and disabled toilet alarms all on the same system. A considerable saving can now be made as only one system is required. Prior to this product three separate systems would have been necessary, says the company.

The system works in the same way as Baldwin Boxall's market leading 'CARE' products. Remote units are wired in a loop configuration and it is possible to have a number of disabled refuge remotes, fire telephones or toilet alarms all on the same loop. Also in the range, Baldwin Boxall has developed a combined disabled refuge and fire telephone remote. Like all of Baldwin Boxall's 'CARE' products the system is compliant with BS5839 part 9.

In addition to VIGIL OmniCare Baldwin Boxall will also be displaying the VIGIL EVAS range of DSP controlled voice alarm products. The main unit - BVRD2M - is the feature-rich DSP controlled router. Only 1U in height, the BVRD2M has seven audio outputs, eight audio inputs and six flash stored messages. Adding one BVRD2S slave unit increases the number of inputs by twelve and outputs by sixteen. Up to five slave units can be connected to each master - providing 68 inputs, 87 outputs and 30 messages! The EVAS range can provide a decentralised network and up to 128 units can be linked together - creating a voice alarm system for the largest of sites.

The new look range of BDM400 will also be on display. Black and silver in appearance, the microphones will replace the current BDM300 range with a single zone microphone through to a sixteen zone option. Similar in operation to the BDM300 range, the new microphones have an analogue output signal and serial RS485 zone select using one RJ45 eight-way Cat 5 lead enabling simple networking. LEDs on the microphone indicate zone busy, power and data. The monitored versions also feature a fault buzzer which, together with the LED indicator, will alert an operator to a system fault.
