The boxes were presented to chief executive of RAFT Leonor Stjepic and laboratory technician Julian Dye. The team at RAFT were delighted by the amount raised (£437.04) in such a short space of time. The charity relies heavily on donations such as this.
After a tour of RAFTs laboratories in Northwood, Nick Baldwin, marketing director, Baldwin Boxall, commented, " We had the idea of raising money shortly before the show. Although we have supported RAFT on other occasions, this is the first time we have used an exhibition for this purpose. The research RAFT does is truly amazing and many people will benefit in the future.
"Not only are they researching the effects of the sun in relation to skin cancer, they are also looking for a cure. Another major project being worked on is the development of Smart Matrix a skin scaffold for burns and chronic wounds which enables blood vessels to grow within it much faster than with current methods. Both of these products have the potential to save lives.
"We would like to say a big thank you to all customers and visitors to our stand who kindly dug deep into their pockets and donated."
Receiving the donation, Leonor Stjepic said , "We are a little known charity, achieving ground breaking technology and we are so grateful to Baldwin Boxall for collecting the money. Raising awareness of our existence is also very important for our cause and this can only have helped."
