The awards ceremony took place on 29 July, 2006 at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts' graduation. Kathy Sandys, a lecturer in Theatre and Performance Technology, presented the award.
The Bandit Lites Excellence in Lighting Award went to Miriam Evans, who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Theatre and Performance Technology. Her citation read, "in recognition of her consistently high standard of work over the past three years, especially the lighting designs for Oh What a Lovely War and the Breaking Out dance tour in spring 2006."
Recipients were also presented with a commemorative lapel pin, compliments of Sir Paul McCartney, LIPA's lead patron. Bandit was among twelve award sponsors at this year's ceremony.
"It is a great privilege to continue our sponsorship and involvement with LIPA. The students that pass through this fantastic institution are the future of our industry," said Bandit, UK general manager, Mark Powell.
Bandit CEO, Michael Strickland, was unable to attend this year but would like to congratulate all parties involved for their continuous efforts and achievements. "We are very proud each year to work with Mark Featherstone-Witty and Sir Paul McCartney to recognise outstanding students entering into the lighting profession," Strickland said, "The industry needs more institutions like LIPA."
