UK - PA/VA specialist Millbank Electronics has recently supplied Metronet - the company responsible for upgrading and maintaining two thirds of London's Underground network - with their new DsPAC Class D 3U mainframe amplifier.

The DsPAC was specified by Metronet to augment the original Millbank PowerPac system in Bank underground station. Situated in the heart of London's financial district, with more than 45 million passengers passing through each year, Bank is one of the most used underground station in London.

Installed and integrated by London-based contractor Qubic Transportation Systems Ltd, the DsPAC integrated seamlessly to the system, and has dramatically augmented its capacity as a contemporary VA system. Metronet's commercial asset engineer, Neil Wilkinson, commented: "The DsPAC is a superb product. It offers Metronet a powerful tool, which has seamlessly upgraded and enhanced the PA/VA capacity of Bank Station. It benefits from Millbank's superb quality and build and has proved that it is extremely robust. Additionally, by virtue of its compact design, it affords a valuable space/performance ratio plus it is simple to operate, even by non-technical users."

Millbank's new DsPAC has been designed from the ground up at the company's Macclesfield HQ. As well as being a suitable retrofit and an up-grade for the original Millbank PowerPac systems, it is an infinitely configurable modular system, which will accept up to five CDA 250 Class D amplifiers. Millbank reports that a number of other major industrial organizations, including Shell, have enhanced their existing Millbank systems with DsPAC. Millbank's CEO Neil Voce commented: "For anyone with Millbank PowerPac systems, DsPAC throws them a lifeline to extend the serviceability of their systems in the future."
