Russia - Barco's Encore presentation system, FLM R20+ and CLM R10+ digital projectors were selected for use in the 11th St Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The forum, which took place on 9 and 10 June 2007, saw a gathering of 10,000 people - including more than 200 CEOs from top international companies - for a series of high-level industry workshops under the auspices of President Putin.

A new conference hall was built at the Lenexpo complex for the forum. Within the complex, one of the largest Encore presentation systems ever deployed in Europe was set up for the event. The system, along with projectors and other Barco image processing equipment, had been brought over from Finland by Finnish rental partner SVV which is the official video supplier for the event.

Mika Vakkilainen, MD of Suomen Videoviestint (SVV) states: "The event was a great challenge for us with such a large amount of projectors being used at the same time and with the inevitable last minute changes that needed to be programmed. But that is where the Encore system came into its own, as it was very easy to make these changes on the fly."

"The 40m wide screen using five blended projectors for the opening ceremony looked fantastic and showed the true quality of both the Barco FLM projectors and the Encore presentation system."

A total of 14 Barco digital projectors were used, including the new CLM R10+, a compact 10,000 lumen DLP. The entire video content was controlled by a full complement of Barco presentation systems.

The main stage screen was a blended widescreen using three FLM R20+ projectors all controlled by the Encore system. The two side screens, using ELM R18s, were driven by the same Encore control system. ScreenPRO-II, PresentationPRO-II, ImagePRO HD systems were also employed - driving the audience screens, confidence monitors and other signals for broadcast, the press centre and recording devices. In all, a total of 16 fully HD capable Barco Image Processors controlled by an Encore SC where used.
