The judges commented that the project was not only beautifully detailed and realised, but offered the client a flexible facility that will generate revenue in the future.
BDP provided exterior lighting to the façade, concourse area and stand, as well as internal lighting to the front of house areas including entrance, event space, bars, circulation areas and facilities.The lighting showcases the bold and strong graphic identity for the new events venue, and the re-born cricket ground as a whole.
Brendan Keely, associate lighting designer at BDP, said, "Lighting within the leisure sector is very challenging as you are tasked with creating a stunning visual effect both internally and externally which needs to be as sustainable and energy efficient as possible. BDP's lighting scheme for The Point is a great example of how this can be achieved, and I'm thrilled that the lighting industry has recognised our achievement with this very prestigious award."
