Ben Sheppee of Observatory creates DRAWDOWN for Collusion

DRAWDOWN, which is running from 25 October to 24 November, is Sheppee’s first major installation in King’s Lynn and will consist of a series of five large-scale building projections. Each will explore how the effects of climate change can be reversed, presenting an often-overlooked positive angle on the most crucial environmental issue humans have ever faced.
“I personally feel like everyone has a general awareness and understanding of climate change, but many people feel ineffective as individuals to have an impact,” comments Sheppee. “I wanted to highlight the practical solutions in a way that provides empowerment through awareness. I would consider the works to be successful if they reinvigorate the public’s interest in climate change solutions.”
Supported by partners including Arts Council England and the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, DRAWDOWN will feature projections on five King’s Lynn buildings - The Custom House, Greyfriars Tower, King’s Lynn Minster, St Nicolas’ Chapel and Tuesday Market Place.
“We’re looking forward to presenting Ben’s work on some of King’s Lynn’s most iconic buildings,” says Rachel Drury of Collusion. “We hope that the public enjoy walking around the town to see this beautiful and thought-provoking project – vitally, knowing that they can do so safely by following social distancing guidelines.”
The project is the first of four climate-related artworks that Collusion will be delivering between October 2020 and May 2022 as part of the GAME ON series. GAME ON aims to establish King’s Lynn as a national centre of excellence for cultural innovation in interactive, town-scale projection-based artworks, created by a networked digital cluster of specialist creative companies.
