Noting the extreme brightness of the Palco 5+, Betalite's Murray Bridges placed some immediately onto a theatre production he was lighting at the Rose Theatre, Kidderminster, while four of the fixtures joined the GB Theatre Company production for outdoor use on their European Shakespeare tour. Bridges commented, "These fixtures are both dynamic and aesthetically superb - and we are delighted to be the first UK customers for them."
Betalite already have wide experience of using the similar Palco 3's - as have Gradav, who run between 50 and 60 (as well as SGM Giottos) in their hire fleet. "We take as much as we can from SGM," said sales manager Terry Savva.
And this was echoed by Ian Knight at CTS. "We've been aware of the Palcos for some time through our friendship with Gradav and I've used them on shows I've lit myself as well as recommending them to customers for hire.
"So when our customer asked for a recommendation for a new generation LED it was a no brainer. It had to be Palco and the 5+, with interchangeable optics, seemed to fit the requirement nicely. He was certainly impressed with the specs."
Those specs include re-equipping the fixtures with powerful Osram Diamond Dragon LED's and uprating the chassis to IP-65 protection - producing a luminous flux of 6100 lumens from a power draw of just 250W.
SGM products are distributed exclusively in the UK by LED Projects Ltd.
